  1. 11. Learning from assessments of resource efficiency measures and their impact on resource use and the environment - Based on a case of additive manufacturing and a review of assessment studies

    Författare :Daniel Böckin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; circular economy; repair; 3D-printing; active products; automotive; resource efficiency; reuse; additive manufacturing; remanufacturing; life cycle assessment;

    Sammanfattning : Resource efficiency measures have the potential to reduce the environmental and resource impacts of the current linear economy by decreasing the physical flows of material and energy associated with producing and using products and services. In order to investigate this potential, there is a need for assessments from a systems perspective, which for example enables the identification of possible trade-offs between different measures and aspects of resource efficiency depending on the product characteristics. 2. 12. Improved environmental assessment in the development of wood-based products: Capturing impacts of forestry and uncertainties of future product systems

    Författare :Gustav A Sandin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; wood; water use; scenario modelling; land use; impact assessment; product development; environmental assessment; end-of-life modelling; sustainability assessment; forestry;

    Sammanfattning : The prospect of reducing environmental impacts is a key driver for the development of new wood-based products. But as wood-based products are not necessarily environmentally superior to non-wood alternatives, there is a need to assess the environmental impact of the product and guide the development process. Sammanfattning : The United Nations (UN) has adopted 17 “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs) to achieve a clean, better and sustainable future. SDG 6 is to ensure that everyone has access to clean water and sanitation by 2030. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Facts and Interpretations in Environmental Assessments of Products

    Författare :Magnus Bengtsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wastewater systems; weighting; learning; decision making; legitimacy; environmental trade-offs; sewage sludge; life cycle assessment LCA ; controversy; environmental evaluation;

    Sammanfattning : Contemporary environmental discourse increasingly emphasises environmental impacts associated with products. In response to this attention, methods for assessing the impacts of products over their life cycles, life cycle assessment (LCA), have been devised. LÄS MER

  5. 15. On the contribution of forest bioenergy to climate change mitigation

    Författare :Olivia Cintas Sanchez; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Forest bioenergy; forest management; climate change; energy systems.; GHG balances; forest supply; carbon budget;

    Sammanfattning : Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have to be drastically reduced to keep global warming below 2 degrees. Bioenergy can play a role in climate change mitigation by substituting for fossil fuels. LÄS MER
