16. Fighting microbial infections with force fields: Evaluating conformational ensembles of intrinsically disordered proteins
Sammanfattning : The main goal of this compilation thesis has been to investigate the conformational ensemble of the intrinsically disordered protein (IDP) histatin 5 by using a mixture of experimental and computational techniques including, but not limited to, small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, and coarse-grained Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. Histatin 5 is a peptide of particular interest for two reasons. LÄS MER
17. Cultivating educational research in Lao PDR : For a better future?
Sammanfattning : This thesis looks at the introduction of educational action research as part of the national education reforms in Lao PDR. National policies on education emphasise concepts such as ‘education for all’ and ‘student-centred education’ taken from the globalised education reform agenda. LÄS MER
18. Hydrological Seasonal Forecasting
Sammanfattning : In Sweden, almost half of the electricity produced comes from hydropower. However, the amount of water in the reservoir catchments is not evenly distributed throughout the year. During the colder months, precipitation usually falls as snow and accumulates into a snowpack. LÄS MER
19. Spatially Coupled Turbo-Like Codes
Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is on proposing and analyzing a powerful class of codes on graphs---with trellis constraints---that can simultaneously approach capacity and achieve very low error floor. In particular, we propose the concept of spatial coupling for turbo-like code (SC-TC) ensembles and investigate the impact of coupling on the performance of these codes. LÄS MER
20. Sampling from molecular unnormalized distributions with Deep Generative Models
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates how Deep Generative Models (DGMs) can address important drug discovery problems involving sampling from unnormalized distributions. It consists of two papers focusing on this challenge’s aspects: molecular design and conformational sampling. LÄS MER
