1. Process Modeling of Composite Manufacturing
Sammanfattning : The focus of this research thesis is toward developing a framework for holistic modeling of composites manufacturing of fiber reinforced structural composites. The processes that have been considered are Liquid Composite Molding (LCM) and Out Of Autoclave (OOA) processes, ranging from Liquid Resin Infusion (LRI) and Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) in LCM processes, to Vacuum Bag Only (VBO) and Evac prepregs in OOA processes. 2. Fatigue improvement of steel bridges with high-frequency mechanical impact treatment
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the performance of fatigue-improved welds with high-frequency mechanical impact (HFMI) for application on new bridges. Fatigue strength improvement with HFMI can enable lightweight design of bridges and allow the utilisation of the benefits of high-strength steels. LÄS MER
3. Fatigue Performance of Additive Manufactured Ti6Al4V in Aerospace Applications
Sammanfattning : Additive Manufacturing (AM) for metals includes is a group of production methodst hat use a layer-by-layer approach to directly manufacture final parts. In recent years, the production rate and material quality of additive manufactured materials have improved rapidly which has gained increased interest from the industry to use AM not only for prototyping, but for serial production. 4. Tailoring of Transition Metal Silicides as Protective Thin Films on Austenitic Stainless Steel
Sammanfattning : The objective of this study is to make use of transition metal silicides in a novel way as protective thin films on engineering metals. It can then be possible to take advantage of the potentially good corrosion resistance of metal silicides while compensating for their brittle nature by the ductile bulk material. LÄS MER
5. Novel Materials and Implant Designs for the Treatment of Degenerative Disc Disease
Sammanfattning : The overarching objective of this thesis was to develop intervertebral implants for degenerated discs through design, fabrication, and mechanical validation. The research had four primary aims, each addressing different facets of implant development. LÄS MER
