16. On the Design Considerations for Thermal Energy Storage with Phase Change Materials: Material Characterization and Modelling
Sammanfattning : Integrating thermal energy storage (TES) technologies to a process enables storing and releasing thermal energy on demand. Depending on the implementation, this may lead to economic and ecological improvements, e.g. by shifting the peak demand to off-peak hours or by increasing the share of utilized renewable energy. 17. Atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys – characterization and mechanisms
Sammanfattning : The atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys was investigated. Corrosion tests were performed in the laboratory under controlled environment. CP Mg, AM50 and AZ91 samples were exposed at 95% RH and 22°C in the presence and in the absence of 400 ppm CO2 for 24 h to 672 h. The passive film was characterized by means of XPS, FTIR, AES and XRD. LÄS MER
18. Thermal insulation of the combustion chamber in a light duty diesel engine
Sammanfattning : Reduction of heat loss from the combustion chamber in an engine has great potential to decrease fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Research on thermal barrier coatings (TBC) has been performed since the early eighties to address this potential. LÄS MER
19. Structure-Performance Relations of Oxygen Barriers for Food Packaging
Sammanfattning : Food packaging should ensure the safety and quality of food, minimize spoilage and provide an easy way of storing and handling it. Barrier coatings are generally used to meet the demands placed on fibre-based food packages, as these have the ability to regulate the amount of gases that can enter them. LÄS MER
20. Wideband THz Mixers and Components for the Next Generation of Receivers for Radioastronomy
Sammanfattning : In recent decades, there has been a growing interest in THz research, leading to substantial improvements in technology and the emergence of new applications. In particular, the ever-evolving field of radio astronomy instrumentation has been pushing the limits of millimeter and sub-millimeter technology boundaries, redefining the state-of-the-art for wideband low-noise receivers.
