    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study is to investigate the metaphorization of ROMANTIC LOVE in spoken Swedish. The study is based on 4 semi-structured focus group conversations with participants in two age groups; 24–33 and 50–54.     Sammanfattning : This study examines the functions of objects in a selection of British colonial travel accounts about Africa. The works discussed were published between 1863 and 1908 and include travelogues by John Hanning Speke, Verney Lovett Cameron, Henry Morton Stanley, Mary Henrietta Kingsley, Ewart Scott Grogan, Mary Hall and Constance Larymore.     Sammanfattning : With its abundance of maps, place names, and landscapes, and with titles like Inland and Landscape with Landscape, Gerald Murnane's fiction exemplifies the dominance of land in Australian literature. Yet, Murnane's fiction differs from most "landscape fiction" in that it depicts an Australia that despite its history of exploration has not yet been fully discovered. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The present study of Marlowe’s plays has as its point of departure the sixteenth-century uncertainty as to what constituted the category of literature. Particularly in England, so acutely aware of this problem were writers and educators that they sought to define and legitimise vernacular literature by integrating it within a rhetoric of language politics, according to which literature in English should serve and promote the English nation.     Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns agreement with collective nouns in American, British and Australian English. It is based on material from newspaper corpora and spoken corpora. The findings suggest that dialectal, stylistic, diachronic, syntactic and semantic factors interact in the selection of singular and plural agreement. LÄS MER
