  1. 6. Fuchs’ endothelial corneal dystrophy : Genetic aetiology and as a risk factor in cataract surgery

    Författare :Andreas Viberg; Berit Byström; Irina Golovleva; Patrik Danielson; Madeleine Zetterberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fuchs’ endothelial corneal dystrophy; genetics; TCF4; trinucleotide repeat disorder; registry-based study; cataract surgery; outcome; PROM; corneal transplantation; dense cataract; posterior capsule rupture; oftalmiatrik; ophthalmology; Clinical Genetics; klinisk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Fuchs’ endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) is a bilateral, often hereditary degenerative corneal disease, in which the disrupted endothelial cell function causes corneal swelling and reduced vision. An early clinical sign of FECD is corneal guttata, an irregularity of the endothelial layer. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Cardiovascular risk factors and peripheral vascular function in lung transplant recipients

    Författare :Martin Silverborn; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :lung transplantation; cardiovascular risk factors; hypertension; arterial compliance; vascular resistance; endothelial function; endothelin-1;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: Cardiovascular disease is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality after organ transplantation. Development of cardiovascular risk factors, like hypertension, is common after transplantation. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Endogenous tissue-type plasminogen activator andendothelial function in vivo. A clinical perspective

    Författare :Thorarinn Gudnason; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :tissue-type plasminogen activator; endothelial function; age; vasodilation; chronic heart failure; coronary artery disease; local regulation; perfused-forearm model;

    Sammanfattning : Endogenous fibrinolysis is initiated by the glycoprotein tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA), which is released from the vascular endothelium. Plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 (PAI-1) is the main inhibitor of tPA. LÄS MER

  4. 9. MOLECULAR ASPECTS OF ENDOTHELIAL CELL FUNCTION AND HYPOXIA-DEPENDENT TUMOR ANGIOGENESIS

    Författare :Paulina Kucharzewska; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hypoxia; hypoxia-inducible factor; angiogenesis; anti-angiogenic therapy; endothelial cell; polyamines; microRNA; extracellular membrane vesicles; exosomes; glioblastoma;

    Sammanfattning : Hypoxia, or deficient oxygen levels, is an inherent feature of rapidly expanding tumor tissue. In order to survive in the hostile, hypoxic environment and to restore the supply of oxygen and nutrients tumor cells activate a variety of adaptive mechanisms. Among them, hypoxia-induced angiogenesis, i.e. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Functional role of neural cell adhesion molecule in tumorigenesis and beta-cell function

    Författare :Xiaojie Xian; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :N-CAM; pericytes; endothelial; tumor; PDGF-B; RipTag; ECM; exocytosis;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer metastasis is the main lethal cause for cancer patients today. It has been demonstrated that angiogenesis is crucial for growth of both primary tumors and metastasis. LÄS MER
