    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Air Pollution; Particulate Matter; Diesel Exhaust; Ozone; Experimental Exposure studies; Luftföroreningar; Partiklar; Disel avgaser; ozon; Experimentella exponerings studier; Internal medicine; Invärtesmedicin; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine; kardiologi; Cardiology; Environmental Science; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The negative effects of air pollution on morbidity and mortality have been known since the mid 20th century. The two most well known examples are the Meuse Valley disaster in the 1930’ies and the London black fog in December 1952. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Ozone and diesel exhaust : airway signaling, inflammation and pollutant interactions

    Författare :Jenny Bosson; Anders Blomberg; Thomas Sandström; Ellinor Ädelroth; John Balmes; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; air pollution; ozone; diesel exhaust; airway inflammation; asthma; immunohistochemistry; Lung diseases; Lungsjukdomar; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : It is well established that air pollution has detrimental effects on both human health as well as the environment. Exposure to ozone and particulate matter pollution, is associated with an increase in cardiopulmonary mortality and morbidity. Asthmatics, elderly and children have been indicated as especially sensitive groups. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Airway effects of diesel exhaust in healthy and asthmatic subjects

    Författare :Charlotta Nordenhäll; Thomas Sandström; Ellinor Ädelroth; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; air pollution; diesel exhaust; airway responsiveness; airway inflammation; lung function; asthmatics; immunohistochemistry; bronchial epithelium;

    Sammanfattning : Several epidemiological studies have revealed an association between particulate matter (PM) pollution and various health effects. Importantly, there is evidence to suggest that individuals with pre-existing respiratory disease, such as asthma, are more sensitive to elevated ground levels of particulate matter as compared to healthy subjects.
