Sammanfattning : How do Community Contribution Requirements Affect Local Public Good Provision? Experimental Evidence from Safe Water Sources in Bangladesh We exploit the random assignment of communities selected to receive a safe drinking water program to various contribution requirements: cash, labor or no requirement to contribute. Imposing a cash contribution requirement greatly decreases program take-up, while imposing a labour contribution does not. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on power structures in the Mälaren basin during the Iron Age, and how these structures change over time. In the viewpoint of the author, constructing large mounds was an important way for the elite in the Mälaren basin to distinguish themselves from other groups in the region during the relevant period. 24. Control and Rent-Seeking: The Role of the State in the Thai Cassava Industry
Sammanfattning : What we can conclude from this study is that the state and the market are not perfect substitutes in allocating resources and sustaining economic development separately. The case of the Thai cassava industry seems to suggest that the Thai state is not benevolent, but predatory in nature. LÄS MER
25. Det kulturella kapitalet : Studier av symboliska tillgångar i det svenska utbildningssystemet 1988–2008
Sammanfattning : The papers assembled in this thesis all address, in a Bourdieuan tradition, the question of the social structure of the Swedish education system, focusing on the Stockholm region, and how this structure can be explained by the distribution of cultural and other assets among individuals and social groups. Although economic, social and political changes during the period covered by the various studies are not the main focus of the work here, the articles depict the effects of such changes on upper secondary education in particular.
