  1. 1. Characterizing cancer cell signaling at the protein level : from targeted to proteome and phosphoproteome‐wide analyses

    Författare :Elena Panizza; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are the effectors of cellular functions and the constituting elements of cellular signaling cascades. The ability to analyze the abundances and the dynamics of proteins is central to dissect cellular signaling and its effects on cell physiology. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mircostructure and rheological properties of concentrated tomato suspensions during processing

    Författare :Elena Bayod; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rheology; microstructure; morphology; flocs; tomato paste; ketchup; fibre suspensions; viscoelastic properties; particle size distribution; time dependency; network; yield stress; wall slip; Mooney; Cox-Merz rule; Tikhonov; tube viscometer; rotational viscometer; homogenisation; shearing;

    Sammanfattning : Food processing comprises operations such as dilution (changing the concentration), homogenisation (changing the particle size), and subsequent pumping (shearing), among others. It is thus of great interest to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms governing the creation and disruption of structures during these engineering operations, and the way in which they are related to the textural and rheological properties of the material. 3. 3. Gap Waveguide Technology for Millimeter Wave Applications and Integration with Antennas

    Författare :Elena Pucci; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Array Antennas.; Microstrip Lines; Micromachining; Artificial Magnetic Conductors; Millimeter Waves; Waveguide Resonators; Packaging of Microwave Components; Gap Waveguides; Losses;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing advance of short range wireless communications requiring high data rates and the lack of available spectrum have driven researchers and industry to move towards higher frequencies, in particular to the millimeter wave range. The opening of this wide portion of free spectrum has risen a large interest in developing mm-wave communication systems for commercial applications. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Gait strategy in myelomeningocele : movements, mechanics and methods

    Författare :Elena M Gutierrez; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Myelomeningocele; spina bifida; gait analysis; movement analysis; muscle paresis; compensatory movements; orthoses; centre of mass.;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe the movement patterns employed in self-ambulatory children with a range of muscle paresis due to nervous tissue damage resulting from myelomeningocele, a common congenital malformation of the spinal column resulting in sensory and motor paresis. Using 3D movement analysis, the upper and lower body kinematics, movement of the center of mass, and joint moments, powers, and work done during gait in 32 children with lumbo-sacral myelomeningocele were analyzed and divided into 5 groups based on the severity of paresis. 5. 5. Growth hormone responsiveness in children : results from Swedish multicenter clinical trials of growth hormone treatment

    Författare :Elena Lundberg; Berit Kriström; Kerstin Albertsson-Wikland; Roland Pfäffle; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gain in height; puberty; IGHD; non-GHD; IGF-I; bioavailability;

    Sammanfattning : The general aims of the thesis were to study GH responsiveness by estimation of pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of injected recombinant human GH (rhGH), of growth response as gain in heightSDS during childhood and puberty, and IGF-I response as change in circulating IGF-ISDS and IGFBP3SDS. Methods Short children were recruited during 1988–1999 into two national randomized multicentre clinical trials on growth until adult height. LÄS MER
