Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis aims at improving spectroscopic techniques for analysis of pharmaceutical solids. This improvement is achieved by the combining and development of instrumentations and data evaluation tools from two research fields: the fields of near infrared spectroscopy and biomedical optics. Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this work has been to investigate the fundamental dynamics of photodissociation and photo-induced isomerization reactions in the condensed phase. These "elementary" reactions have been chosen as model processes for exploring the influence of the solvent on a chemical event, as well as the factors that control this influence. LÄS MER
3. Lateral Superlattices in Commensurate Magnetic Fields: Electronic Structure, Transport and Optical Properties
Sammanfattning : The present thesis is devoted to the theoretical study of two-dimensional electron systems moving in a modulated lateral periodic potential and a competing perpendicular magnetic field. The three introductory chapters offer a brief exposition of the basic issues in this area -- the description of the electron motion in a prependicular magnetic field, the group of magnetic translations and the commensurability phenomena -- at an elementary level. Sammanfattning : The purpose of this PhD thesis work has been to develop optical techniques that can help utility engineers for assessing the state of insulators in service and in a laboratory. The possibilities to use remote laser induced fluorescence for detection and imaging of biological growth such as algae and fungi have been investigated. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : Composite materials, i.e, mixtures of two or more materials, are commonly used in industry, because they often have outstanding properties in comparison with the original materials. In many cases the inhomogeneities are on a very fine scale, which makes it difficult to perform a full numerical simulation of the material. LÄS MER
