6. Measurements of supersymmetry with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC
Sammanfattning : If supersymmetry exists at the electroweak scale, then it should be possible to discover it at CERN's next accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The phenomenology predicted by the supergravity inspired mimmal supersymmetric standard model (SUGRA) is examined in detail. LÄS MER
7. Production asymmetry of strange quarks in electron-positron annihilation at LEP
Sammanfattning : The forward-backward asymmetry in the production of strange quarks in electron-positron annihilation has been measured at a centre-of-mass energy corresponding to the mass of the Z0 particle. The asymmetry at this energy is highly sensitive to the ratio between the vector and axial-vector couplings of the quark to the Z0 and to the value of the electroweak mixing angle sin2 θw. LÄS MER
8. Dynamics of quarks and leptons : theoretical Studies of Baryons and Neutrinos
Sammanfattning : The Standard Model of Elementary Particle Physics (SM) is the present theoryfor the elementary particles and their interactions and is a well-established theorywithin the physics community. The SM is a combination of Quantum Chromodynamics(QCD) and the Glashow{Weinberg{Salam (GWS) electroweak model. LÄS MER
9. Studies of fermion masses in Gauge theories
Sammanfattning : The Electroweak Standard Model of particle physics has proved to be avery successful theory. Nevertheless several questions have been raised dueto shortcomings of the model. The most outstanding question in this modelconcerns the origin of masses of the elementary particles. Eventually wehope that a more fundamental theory will explain the masses. LÄS MER
10. Astrophysical and Collider Signatures of Extra Dimensions
Sammanfattning : In recent years, there has been a large interest in the subject of extra dimensions in particle physics. In particular, a number of models have been suggested which provide solutions to some of the problems with the current Standard Model of particle physics, and which could be tested in the next generation of high-energy experiments.
