  1. 11. Advancements in Lithium-Based Batteries : Unraveling and Mitigating Performance-Limiting Phenomena in Negative Electrodes

    Författare :Yu-Kai Huang; Leif Nyholm; William Brant; Erik Lewin; Gunther Brunklaus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lithium-based batteries; negative electrodes; negative electrode materials; lithium diffusion; lithium trapping; lithium electrodeposition; Kemi med inriktning mot materialkemi; Chemistry with specialization in Materials Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The development of lithium-based batteries, especially lithium-ion batteries, has changed our daily lives significantly. The technologies first enabled by lithium-based batteries are now in turn creating a demand for better lithium-based batteries with higher energy densities and longer cycling lifetimes. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Towards Natural Control of Artificial Limbs

    Författare :Max Jair Ortiz Catalan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; epimysial electrodes; robotic prostheses; sensory feedback.; real-time and simultaneous prosthetic control; neurostimulation; pattern recognition; advanced prosthetic control; neural interfaces; artificial limbs; cuff electrodes; bone-anchored prostheses; osseointegration;

    Sammanfattning : The use of implantable electrodes has been long thought as the solution for a more natural control of artificial limbs, as these offer access to long-term stable and physiologically appropriate sources of control, as well as the possibility to elicit appropriate sensory feedback via neurostimulation. Although these ideas have been explored since the 1960’s, the lack of a long-term stable human-machine interface has prevented the utilization of even the simplest implanted electrodes in clinically viable limb prostheses. 3. 13. A novel implantable ultra-flexible brain machine interface. Manufacturing and initial characterisations

    Författare :Fotios Tsanakalis; Neuronano Research Center (NRC); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Brain-Machine Interfaces; BMIs; Neural Interfaces; Electrodes;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes for the very first time the development of a miniaturized neural interface which is flexible in three dimensions (3D) to enable it to follow the brain movements with minimal dislocation. Both the design rationale and the material choice for the electrodes aim to develop interfaces that minimize the damage and/or the irritation of the tissue during and after the implantation. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Smartware electrodes for ECG measurements : Design, evaluation and signal processing

    Författare :Linda Rattfält; Per Ask; Fredrik Björefors; Kaj Lindecrantz; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work has been to study textile and screen printed smartware electrodes for electrocardiographic (ECG) measurements both in terms of their electrode properties and possibility to further improve their robustness to movement induced noise by using signal processing. Smartware electrodes for ECG measurements have previously been used in various applications but basic electrical electrode properties have not sufficiently been looked into. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Nanoscaled Structures in Ruthenium Dioxide Coatings

    Författare :Christine Malmgren; Håkan Olin; Joakim Bäckström; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :Bleaching chemicals; sodium chlorate; ruthenium dioxide; electrodes; crystallites; nanowires; microscopy; diffraction; electrocatalytic area; reduced energy consumption; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : An essential ingredient in the generation of environmentally compatible pulp bleaching chemicals is sodium chlorate. Chlorate is produced in electrochemical cells, where the electrodes are the key components. In Sweden the so-called DSA !R electrodes with catalytic coatings have been produced for more than 35 years. LÄS MER
