  1. 1. Development of a polymer based neural probe - How to record intracortical neural activity while minimizing the tissue response

    Författare :Fredrik Ejserholm; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Neural Probes; Electrode Modification; Polymer; Neurophysiology; OSTE ;

    Sammanfattning : Intracortical neural probes have in the last couple of years been developed from stiff single probes to stiff multi-electrode neural probes to flexible multi-electrode neural probes. One reason for the change in design is that more than one recording/stimulation electrode, as in the case with a single wire, is needed for more advanced studies. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Development of electrochemical sensor and biosensor platforms : detection of therapeutic drugs and heavy metal ions

    Författare :Sereilakhena Phal; Solomon Tesfalidet; Britta Lindholm-Sethson; William Siljebo; Pankaj Vadgama; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sensors; electrode surface modification; electrochemical immitance spectroscopy; square wave anodic stripping voltammetry; singular value decomposition; therapeutic drugs; heavy metals;

    Sammanfattning : Electrochemical sensors and biosensors combine the sensitivity of electroanalytical methods with the selectivity of a sensor or biosensor surface. The chemical or biochemical component (receptor) in the sensor recognizes an analyte and produces an electrical signal which is proportional to the analyte concentration. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Synthesis and Modification of Conjugated Materials for Polymer Solar Cells

    Författare :Zandra George; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polymer interlayer; polymer solar cells; stability; conjugated polymers; fullerene derivatives;

    Sammanfattning : Polymer solar cells have emerged as a promising alternative to silicon based solar cells. One of the advantages of polymer solar cells is the possibility to use roll-to-roll techniques for large-scale device production. However, in order to fully utilize this technique, several issues need to be resolved. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Development of Nanoimprint Lithography for Applications in Electronics, Photonics and Life-sciences

    Författare :Patrick Carlberg; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mikroelektronik; Microelectronics; Teknik; ballistic; Technological sciences; Fysik; Physics; nanowire; TBJ; cantilever; IDA electrode; sensors; life-science; lift-off; patterning media; anti-sticking; mold; stamp; process development; thermal imprint; nanoimprint lithography; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; nanotechnology; polymer; nanostructure;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes different aspects of nanotechnology manufacturing with nanoimprint lithography (NIL), a relatively new nanofabrication tool capable of high resolution and high throughput. Surface structure creation with NIL is based on mechanical deformation of the patterning material. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Chemically Modified Metal Oxide Nanostructures Electrodes for Sensing and Energy Conversion

    Författare :Sami Elhag; Omer Nour; Magnus Willander; Alberta Bonanni; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metal oxide nanostructures; mixed metal oxide nano-compound; low temperature wet-chemical growth; chemically modified electrode; doping; surfactant; potentiometric sensor; chemical sensor and photo-electrochemical activity;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of this thesis is the development of scalable, low cost synthesis of metal oxide nanostructures based electrodes and to correlate the chemical modifications with their energy conversion performance. Methods in energy conversion in this thesis have focused on two aspects; a potentiometric chemical sensor was used to determine the analytical concentration of some components of the analyte solution such as dopamine, glucose and glutamate molecules.
