16. Electrochemical monitoring of living cells
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the utilization of electroanalytical methods for analysis of dynamic cellular processes such as exocytosis, intracellular redox reactions and cell surface interactions. Microchips have been designed and manufactured with the purpose of monitoring dopamine exocytosis from single or a small ensemble of PC12 cells. LÄS MER
17. Operando Characterisation of Lithium–Sulfur Batteries
Sammanfattning : Lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries have been under the spotlight of research on electrochemical energy storage systems, primarily owing to their high theoretical specific energy (2552 Wh kg-1). So far, Li–S cells on the market have presented a specific energy of 400 Wh kg-1, which is superior to many commercial alternatives, but far below the theoretical value. LÄS MER
18. Modelling and Experimental Investigation of the Dynamics in Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells
Sammanfattning : In polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFC) chemical energy, in for example hydrogen, is converted by an electrochemical process into electrical energy. The PEFC has a working temperature generally below 100 °C. Under these conditions water management and transport of oxygen to the cathode are the parameters limiting the performance of the PEFC. 19. Acceptor-Doped BaZrO3 Perovskite: Synthesis, Structure and Proton Conductivity
Sammanfattning : Acceptor-doped perovskite oxides exhibit significant proton conductivity in hydrogen containing atmospheres. Therefore, they have potential for use as separator materials for various electrochemical devices including gas sensors, electrolysers and fuel cells. LÄS MER
20. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly.
