1. Chiral Separation of Amines by Non-Aqueous Capillary Electrophoresis using Low Molecular Weight Selectors
Sammanfattning : Three chiral selectors (diketogulonic acid, benzoxycarbonylglycylproline and ketopinic acid) have been introduced for enantioseparation of pharmacologically active amines in non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis. The use of organic solvents, instead of aqueous buffers in the background electrolyte facilitated ion-pair formation between the analytes and the chiral selectors. LÄS MER
2. Numerical simulation of multi-scale transport processes and reactions in pem fuel cells using two-phase models
Sammanfattning : A numerical study for the cathode of a PEM fuel cell has been performed in this study. The results have been limited to cathode only because, in PEM fuel cells, the oxygen reduction reactions, ORRs, are considered the rate limiting reactions and govern the fuel cell performance. 3. Molecular Interactions Studied by Electrophoretic and Diffusion NMR
Sammanfattning : Even though electrophoretic NMR (eNMR) experiments may provide unique chemical information and have been performed for three decades, the technique is still rarely applied, mainly because several experimental sources of artifacts have to be controlled to achieve accurate results. In this thesis, new experimental setups and protocols for accurate and precise eNMR experiments are presented. LÄS MER
4. Improved techniques for CE-MALDI-MS off-line coupling and MALDI-MS analysis of primarily hydrophobic proteins and peptides
Sammanfattning : Due to the hydrophobic nature of integral membrane proteins (IMP) they give rise to several difficulties concerning handling and analysis, which is not the case for the most water soluble proteins. New analysis methods are needed, where the insolubility problems of the hydrophobic proteins due to aggregation and adhesion are tackled. LÄS MER
5. Filtration of Microcrystalline and Microfibrillated Cellulose: The impact of ions and electric field
Sammanfattning : Dewatering plays an essential role in the processing of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and microfibrillated cellulose (MFC), as their commercial attractiveness in many applications is limited by the high water content of the products. Filtration is the most common mechanical dewatering technique, but the filtration of these materials results in filter cakes with high filtration resistance. LÄS MER
