  1. 11. Electricity Supply Reliability: Evaluation of Improvement Solutions for Existing Electricity Networks

    Författare :Fredrik Roos; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Regulation of the electricity network business is continuously under development in many countries. This is a reaction of an increasingly electricity dependent society, which demands electricity supplies at acceptable quality levels and at reasonable tariffs. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Electrification of Road Transportation - Implications for the Electricity System

    Författare :Maria Taljegård; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; highway E39; CO2 emissions; electric vehicle; electric road systems; energy system modelling; variable renewable electricity;

    Sammanfattning : It is incumbent upon the transport sector to reduce its CO2 emissions by replacing fossil fuels with low-carbon alternatives. Suggested strategies include electrification of the road transport sector through the use of electric vehicles (EVs) with static charging, electric road systems (ERS), and the use of electricity to produce fuels. 3. 13. The roles of transmission and distribution networks in integrating variable renewable electricity generation

    Författare :Joel Goop; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electricity generation; demand-side management; energy systems modelling; power systems; variable renewables;

    Sammanfattning : Emission reduction targets, together with other factors, such as security of supply, are driving the expansion of variable renewable energy sources for electricity generation, mainly solar and wind power. Trading across the transmission grid is an important measure to handle the increased variability and to balance supply with demand. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Approaches to scale-up CO2 emissions reduction in the energy supply sector in developing countries

    Författare :Wathanyu Amatayakul; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sectoral no-lose target; electricity generation; biomass; CO2 abatement; Thailand; CDM; developing countries; biofuel;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis, which consists of five papers, addresses two themes related to the need for a scale-up of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction in the energy sector in developing countries: (1) approaches to support developing countries in scaling-up emissions reduction, and (2) an approach to scale-up emissions reduction --cultivation of fuel wood to replace fossil fuels in electricity generation.In the first paper, the potential volume of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions reduction and reduction credits in the electricity sector under a sectoral crediting mechanism based on a sectoral no-lose, non-binding, target in the post-2012 period is assessed for seven high-emitting developing countries by means of different scenarios. 5. 15. Interruptible Load as an Ancillary Service in Deregulated Electricity Markets

    Författare :Anh Tuan Le; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reserve generation; least-cost planning.; interruptible load management; optimal power flow; ancillary services; deregulated electricity market; congestion management;

    Sammanfattning : Power companies world-wide have been restructuring their electric power systems from a vertically integrated entity to a deregulated, open-market environment. Previously, electric utilities usually sought to maximize the social welfare of the system with distributional equity as its main operational criterion. LÄS MER
