  1. 1. Water Realities and Development Trajectories : Global and Local Agricultural Production Dynamics

    Författare :Mats Lannerstad; Jan Lundqvist; Malin Falkenmark; David Molden; Paul Appasamy; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Agriculture development; food production; per capita food supply; consumptive water use; evaporation; transpiration; hydro-climatic variability; blue water resource; green water resource; irrigation; river depletion; river basin closure; adaptive water management; vegetal and animal foods; Jordbruksutveckling; matproduktion; per capita mattillgång; konsumerande vattenanvändning; evaporation; transpiration; hydroklimatisk variabilitet; blåvattenresurs; grönvattenresurs; bevattning; uttorkning av vattendrag; överintecknade avrinningsområden; anpassad vattenhantering; vegetarisk och animalisk föda.; Water in nature and society; Vatten i natur och samhälle;

    Sammanfattning : Water constraints for humans and nature are gaining more and more public attention as a critical environmental dilemma that needs to be addressed. When aquifers and rivers are running dry, the debate refers to an ongoing “world water crisis”. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Open Government Data as a Reform and Ecosystem : A conceptual framework for evolution and health

    Författare :Jonathan Crusoe; Ulf Melin; Gustaf Juell-Skielse; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Open Government Data; Reform; Ecosystem; Health; Evolution; Impediment; Barrier; Risk; Enricher; User; Seeker; Provider; Publisher; Öppna data; ekosystem; reform; hälsa; evolution; hinder; barriär; risk; berikare; användare; sökare; medborgare; tillgängliggörare; publicerare;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: This doctoral thesis in Information Systems disentangles the interplay of an OGD reform and an OGD ecosystem. Open government data (OGD) refers to data shared by public organizations, in the role of providers, following certain principles for anyone to reuse. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modeling lichen performance in relation to climate : scaling from thalli to landscapes

    Författare :Anna V Jonsson Čabrajić; Kristin Palmqvist; Jon Moen; Per-Anders Esseen; Mikaell Ottosson-Löfvenius; Göran Ågren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lichen; growth; model; micro-climate; hydration; activation; photosynthesis; respiration; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestisk ekologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : Lichens can colonize nearly all terrestrial habitats on earth and are functionally important in many ecosystems. Being poikilohydric, their active growth periods are restricted to periods when the thallus is hydrated from atmospheric water sources, such as rain, fog and high relative humidity. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Insights to beachcast management on Gotland, Sweden : An Industrial Ecology perspective on waste-resource ambiguity

    Författare :Hanna Nathaniel; Fredrik Gröndahl; Daniel Franzén; Sofia Lingegård; Johanna Spångberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Beachcast; natural resource management; policy; circular bio-economy; agroecosystems; governance; sustainable development; industrial ecology; Släke; naturresursteknik; policy; cirkulär bioekonomi; agroekologiska system; naturresursförvaltning; hållbar utveckling; industriell ekologi i; Industriell ekologi; Industrial Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Beachcast or beach wrack, washed-up algae and seaweed, used to be a highly sought-after agricultural resource (fertiliser and soil conditioner) in coastal communities around the world before being replaced by chemical fertilisers, but considering the talks of a circular bio-economy – can we reintroduce it? Since the abandonment of beachcast in agriculture, the amount of beachcast has significantly increased as an effect of eutrophication caused by the use of chemical fertiliser, and the material is commonly considered waste. Meanwhile, soils have degraded and need the multiple positive effects on agroecosystems that beachcast could provide. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Applying Industrial Ecology in Urban Planning for the local integration of data centers

    Författare :Cristina Ramos Caceres; Adolfo Sotoca; Marcus Sandberg; Cornelia Redeker; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Data centers; Industrial Ecology; Urban Planning; Spatial Planning; Energy Planning; Arkitektur; Architecture;

    Sammanfattning : The data center industry’s rapid development raises questions about how to regulate data center locations and expansion, becoming a matter of high concern regarding Urban Planning. Data center facilities are commonly located and scaled (regarding power and size) responding to business profitability interests steered by the global market. LÄS MER
