  1. 1. Tracing marine hypoxic conditions during warm periods using a microanalytical approach

    Författare :Sha Ni; Centrum för miljö- och klimatvetenskap (CEC); []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; environmental changes; hypoxia; foraminifera; Eemian; Holocene; trace elements; stable isotopes; LA-ICP-MS; synchrotronbased μXRF;

    Sammanfattning : Deoxygenation, i.e. loss of oxygen from the oceans, often considerably influences the aquatic organisms and the wholeecosystem and changes biogeochemical cycles. It results in increasing bottom areas of hypoxia (. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Eemian Interglacial at Sokli, northern Finland : A multi-proxy environmental and climatic reconstruction based on a 9 m long lacustrine sediment sequence

    Författare :Anna Plikk; Karin F. Helmens; Oliver Heiri; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Last Interglacial MIS5e ; northern Europe; palaeolimnology; palaeoecology; temperature reconstruction; multiple proxies; climate dynamics; climatic events; kvartärgeologi; Quaternary Geology;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding the fundamentals of the Earth’s climate system during the Quaternary Period (the past ca 2.6 million years) is of imminent interest in light of the reported recent climatic changes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Investigating the impacts of Late Pleistocene climate change on Arctic mammals using palaeogenomics

    Författare :Edana Lord; Love Dalén; Mirte Bosse; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palaeogenomics; Arctic; Late Pleistocene; past climate; collared lemming; woolly rhinoceros; Norwegian lemming; muskox; demography; population structure; speciation; adaptation; genome erosion; Systematic Zoology; zoologisk systematik och evolutionsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : The climatic fluctuations of the Late Pleistocene likely had a large impact on the evolutionary history of Arctic species. Palaeogenomics is a useful tool to shed light on how past populations responded to these climatic shifts and the associated ice sheet dynamics and sea level change. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Marginal behaviour of the last Scandinavian Ice Sheet during its final termination and deglaciation over Northeastern Germany

    Författare :Joachim Albrecht; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; climatology; cartography; pedology; geomorphology; Physical geography; Marginal dome; Deglaciation; Clast lithology; Clast fabric; Germany; Pomeranian; Weichselian; Lithostratigraphy; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi; Sedimentology; Sedimentologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents results from studies on geomorphology, lithostratigraphy and ice flow patterns during the final termination and deglaciation of the last Scandinavian Ice Sheet in NE Germany. Ice flow patterns derived from till fabrics and glaciotectonical data indicate that short-lived marginal domes had formed during the advance and the retreat of the last Scandinavian Ice Sheet in NE Germany. 5. 5. Mountain centered icefields in northern Scandinavia

    Författare :Ola Fredin; Clas Hättestrand; Arjen Stroeven; Peter Jansson; Johan Kleman; Jon Landvik; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Scandinavia; Quaternary; Weichselian; mountain; icefield; ice sheet; Physical geography; Naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Mountain centered glaciers have played a major role throughout the last three million years in the Scandinavian mountains. The climatic extremes, like the present warm interglacial or cold glacial maxima, are very short-lived compared to the periods of intermediate climate conditions, characterized by the persistence of mountain based glaciers and ice fields of regional size.
