Sammanfattning : Methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are two important greenhouse gases. Recent studies have shown that lakes, although they cover a small area of the globe, can be very important natural sources of atmospheric CH4 and CO2. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis was to quantitatively estimate the gaseous exchange of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) between a subarctic wetland ecosystem and the atmosphere. Additionally some initial estimates of the carbon input to the atmosphere of nonmethane hydrocarbons (NMHCs) were also obtained by combining different techniques in a joint setting. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : The understanding of how forests function with respect to carbon (C) balance and its interaction with the climate system is a fundamental question in climate change research. Another important question is how large the sink for CO2 is in northern forests and how it varies with forest type, management, stand age and with external factors, such as climate variability. Sammanfattning : Non-exhaust traffic emissions are unregulated, yet the mass emission of non-exhaust particles may be larger than exhaust emissions. In addition, their emission factors (EF) are more uncertain than exhaust emissions. This thesis presents aerosol flux measurements in Stockholm using the eddy covariance method. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : Forest ecosystems cover 31% of the terrestrial land area and store large amounts of carbon in biomass and in soils. The 2015 Paris Agreement recognizes the importance of sinks and reservoirs of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in forests and the importance of enhancing them through sustainable forest management policies.
