  1. 1. Lake Fluxes of Methane and Carbon Dioxide

    Författare :Eva Podgrajsek; Erik Sahlée; Dennis Baldocchi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; air-lake gas exchange; carbon dioxide; eddy covariance; floating chambers; methane; waterside convection; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are two important greenhouse gases. Recent studies have shown that lakes, although they cover a small area of the globe, can be very important natural sources of atmospheric CH4 and CO2. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Land-atmosphere interaction of a subarctic palsa mire

    Författare :Marcin Jackowicz-Korczynski; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; eddy covariance; chamber; methnaol; isoprene; nonmethane hydrocarbons; methane; carbon dioxide; carbon; mire; permafrost; subarctic; palsa; greenhouse gas;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis was to quantitatively estimate the gaseous exchange of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) between a subarctic wetland ecosystem and the atmosphere. Additionally some initial estimates of the carbon input to the atmosphere of nonmethane hydrocarbons (NMHCs) were also obtained by combining different techniques in a joint setting. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Carbon stocks and fluxes in a young Siberian larch (Larix sibirica) plantation in Iceland

    Författare :Brynhildur Bjarnadottir; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; interannual variability; carbon balance; Larix sibirica; afforestation; stock-change method; carbon sequestration; eddy covariance; biomass functions;

    Sammanfattning : The understanding of how forests function with respect to carbon (C) balance and its interaction with the climate system is a fundamental question in climate change research. Another important question is how large the sink for CO2 is in northern forests and how it varies with forest type, management, stand age and with external factors, such as climate variability. 4. 4. Traffic Emissions of Aerosols

    Författare :Matthias Vogt; Douglas Nilsson; Eiko Nemitz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Primary Aerosol Emissions; Carbon Dioxide Emissions; Traffic Aerosol; Urban Aerosol; Traffic Activity; Emission Factors; Eddy Covariance; Aerosol Flux; Atmosphere and hydrosphere sciences; Atmosfärs- och hydrosfärsvetenskap; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Non-exhaust traffic emissions are unregulated, yet the mass emission of non-exhaust particles may be larger than exhaust emissions. In addition, their emission factors (EF) are more uncertain than exhaust emissions. This thesis presents aerosol flux measurements in Stockholm using the eddy covariance method. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Effects of forest management on greenhouse gas fluxes in a boreal forest

    Författare :Patrik Vestin; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :Forest management; Greenhouse gas fluxes; Clear-cutting; Thinning; Stump harvesting; Selective cutting; Eddy-covariance; Flux-gradient; Greenhouse gas budgets; CO2; CH4; N2O;

    Sammanfattning : Forest ecosystems cover 31% of the terrestrial land area and store large amounts of carbon in biomass and in soils. The 2015 Paris Agreement recognizes the importance of sinks and reservoirs of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in forests and the importance of enhancing them through sustainable forest management policies.
