  1. 16. Towards a Scenario-based Spatial Dynamic Modeling for Predicting Urban Land Use Change : Planning Tools and Comparative Analysis

    Författare :Zipan Cai; Vladimir Cvetkovic; Fredrik Gröndahl; Brian Deal; Stan Geertman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; urbanization; planning support system; spatial dynamic model; urban land use change; spatial analysis; human-land interaction; socioeconomics; ecological systems; urban amenities; environmental impact assessment; what-if; decision-making; urbanisering; planeringsstödsystem; rumslig dynamisk modell; förändring av stadsmarkanvändning; rumslig analys; mänsklig-land interaktion; socioekonomi; ekologiska system; urbana bekvämligheter; miljökonsekvensbeskrivning; vad-om; beslutsfattande; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : As global urbanization progresses, cities worldwide are growing in size, which leads to many economic, environmental, and management challenges. Recent advancements in spatial data analysis and algorithmic geography have also led to the development of various urban model-based planning support systems (PSS) for urban planning. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Importance of tannins for responses of aspen to anthropogenic nitrogen enrichment

    Författare :Franziska Bandau; Benedicte Albrectsen; Michael Gundale; Lisbeth Josson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; aspen; foliar condensed tannins; genetic variability; anthropogenic nitrogen enrichment; plant growth; plant defense; litter decomposition; Populus tremula; asp; kondenserade tanniner; genetisk variabilitet; antropogent kväve; tillväxt; växtförsvar; förna nedbrytning; Populus tremula; Environmental Science; miljövetenskap; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany; Entomology; entomologi; Physiological Botany; fysiologisk botanik; Population Biology; populationsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Boreal forests are often strongly nitrogen (N) limited. However, human activities are leading to increased N inputs into these ecosystems, through atmospheric N deposition and forest fertilization. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Large carnivore population turnover and ecological change during the Late Quaternary

    Författare :Erik Ersmark; Love Dalén; Jennifer Leonard; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systematic Zoology; zoologisk systematik och evolutionsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : The cave lion (Panthera spelaea), the grey wolf (Canis lupus) and the brown bear (Ursus arctos) all shared an intercontinental distribution across the northern hemisphere during most of the Late Quaternary, and experienced repeated events of climate change. The cave lion went extinct at the end of the Pleistocene and although the wolf and the bear have survived until present day, recent human persecution has caused demographic bottlenecks and local extinctions. 4. 19. Baltic Sea from Space : The use of ocean colour data to improve our understanding of ecological drivers across the Baltic Sea basin – algorithm development, validation and ecological applications

    Författare :Dmytro Kyryliuk; Susanne Kratzer; Steve W. Lyon; Michelle McCrackin; Koponen Sampsa; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ocean Colour; MERIS; OLCI; water quality; marine ecology; coastal areas; Baltic Sea; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Coastal areas are the most densely populated areas in the world and thus are under immense anthropogenic pressure. To ensure their function and ecological role, coastal areas require continuous monitoring and management. The rapidly emerging field of satellite remote sensing provides a unique opportunity to monitor both land and oceans from Space. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Masking environmental feedback : Misfits between institutions and ecosystems in Belize and Thailand
