  1. 1. Echocardiography/Doppler for the evaluation of coronary artery function, left ventricular function and the relationship between early diastolic and systolic function

    Författare :Reidar Winter; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coronary flow reserve; contrast echocardiography; early diastolic downward velocity; flow propagation velocity; colour M-mode; diastolic function; Echocardiography; Doppler; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system;

    Sammanfattning : Two specific areas of development in echocardiography are assessment of left ventricular (LV) diastolic function and myocardial ischemia. This thesis describes echocardiographic methodology in these two areas. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Reproducibility and interpretation in tissue Doppler echocardiography

    Författare :Camilla Storaa; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ultrasound; echocardiography;

    Sammanfattning : As cardiovascular disease is the single most common cause ofdeath in the western world, and since there is a closeconnection between cardiovascular disease and left ventricular(LV) function, good methods for the assessment of LV functionis highly needed. A widely used tool for the diagnosis of LVdisease is echocardiography, a technique which today faces twodi_culties; the low reproducibility and the subjectiveinterpretation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. New insights in the assessment of right ventricular function : an echocardiographic study

    Författare :Avin Calcutteea; Michael Y Henein; Per Lindqvist; Jan Engvall; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; echocardiography; right ventricle; ischaemic heart disease; pulmonary hypertension; aortic stenosis; aortic valve replacement; three dimensional echocardiography; speckle tracking echocardiography; Cardiology; kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background:  The right ventricle (RV) is multi-compartmental in orientation with a complex structural geometry. However, assessment of this part of the heart has remained an elusive clinical challenge. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Right heart function in health and disease : a doppler echocardiography and doppler tissue imaging study

    Författare :Per Lindqvist; Elsadig E Kazzam; Anders Waldenström; Lars Åke Brodin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Echocardiography; Doppler tissue imaging; right ventricle; cardiac catheterisation; isovolumic relaxation; isovolumic contraction; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: It is well known that performance of the right ventricle (RV) determines exercise capacity and may confer prognostic information in different cardiopulmonary diseases. To allow optimal patient management, ideal methods to assess right heart function are therefore important. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cardiac morphology and dynamics in Swedish elite orienteers : Evaluation of the right and left ventricle by two-dimensional and doppler echocardiography

    Författare :Egil Henriksen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Echocardiography; sudden unexpected death in young orienteers; right and left ventricular measurements; Doppler echocardiography in athletes; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Physiology; klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background. Between 1979 and 1992, 16 (15 males and 1 female) sudden unexpected cardiac deaths(SUCD) were reported in Swedish orienteers. Compared with previous reports in young athletes there was a 10- to 100-fold increase in the sudden death rate in young male elite orienteers during this period. The mean age was 25 years (range 18-32 years). LÄS MER
