6. Tomorrow is yesterday: early-life conditions shape ectotherm life histories
Sammanfattning : Life history theory seeks to explain the overwhelming diversity of resource allocation strategies in nature by exploring how evolutionary forces optimise survival and reproduction within an organism’s environment. Central to this theory is that resources are finite, and thus increased investment into one trait may reduce resources available for another trait. LÄS MER
7. Maternal Separation in the Rat : The Short- and Long-term effects of Early-life Experience on Neuropeptides, Monoamines and Voluntary Ethanol Consumption
Sammanfattning : Early-life experience has profound effects on the individual’s neurobiology and behaviour later in life. The rodent animal experimental model maternal separation (MS) was used to study this more in detail. 8. Immune dysregulation in early life and risk of autism
Sammanfattning : Background The notion of immune perturbations in autism is in part based on numerous observations of an association between maternal infections in general during pregnancy and autism in the child, and on observations of immune abnormalities in individuals diagnosed with autism. Maternal infections during pregnancy are linked to autism in several epidemiological studies, although genetic/familial confounding has rarely been considered. LÄS MER
