1. Archaeological and Historical Reconstructions of the Foraging and Farming Communities of the Lower Zambezi : From the mid Holocene to the second Millennium AD
Sammanfattning : In this thesis I combine new archaeological surveys and excavations together with the historical and ethnographic sources, to construct a long term settlement history and historical ecology of the lower Zambezi River valley and delta region, in Mozambique. The evidence presented indicates that people have settled in the area since the Late Stone Age, in total eight new archaeological sites have been located in archaeological surveys. LÄS MER

4. Histories of reindeer husbandry resilience : land use and social networks of reindeer husbandry in Swedish Sápmi 1740-1920
Sammanfattning : Against a background of ongoing and predicted climatic and environmental change facing humans on a global level, this thesis combines historical perspectives with theories of social resilience in a study of reindeer husbandry in Swedish Sápmi, from the late 18th century to the early 20th century. The thesis includes four individual studies that examine the topic from different angles, connected together by reoccurring elements of social resilience. LÄS MER
5. Agrarian plant economy at Uppåkra and the surrounding area : Archaeobotanical studies of an Iron Age regional center
Sammanfattning : Up until the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, and probably since the introduction of agriculture to Sweden, the social life, culture, traditions, building patterns and material culture would largely have been based on agricultural practices. And yet, in the archaeological record, agricultural aspects of social life remain elusive and little is known about the organization of farming and of the handling and distribution of food and other agricultural products, both within settlements and on a societal level.
