  1. 1. β-adrenergic stimulation of VEGF gene expression : intracellular signalling pathways

    Författare :Magnus J. Fredriksson; Georg Breier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zoofysiologi; Zoological physiology;

    Sammanfattning : In the present study, the intracellular signalling pathway mediating ß-adrenergic stimulation of the expression of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene was investigated.VEGF is an activator of angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels, and is considered to be a major regulator of both physiologically and pathologically related angiogenesis, as well as being essential for development of the vascular system. 2. 2. Injury-Induced Signalling in Arterial Smooth Muscle Cells

    Författare :Sara Moses; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; GAG; Clinical biology; Klinisk biologi; proteoglycan; osteopontin; ERK; MAPK; signalling; smooth muscle cell; injury;

    Sammanfattning : The vascular wall is an active, elastic and integrated organ made up of cellular and extracellular matrix (ECM) components. It is not a static organ; the components dynamically change and reorganize in response to physiological and pathological stimuli. Vascular injury induces a complex healing process, analogous to generalised wound healing. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Injury-induced activation of vascular smooth muscle cells. Role of specific gene expression and intracellular signalling pathways

    Författare :Cecilia Lövdahl; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; metalloproteinase; extracellular matrix; ERK1 2 signalling; migration; proliferation; injury; vessel wall; smooth muscle cell; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : Migration and proliferation of smooth muscle cells (SMC) are important events in the development of atherosclerosis and restenosis following angioplastic surgery. It is important to gain further knowledge about the mechanisms regulating SMC form and function in order to understand the underlying disease process. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mechanisms of stretch-induced growth and contractile differentiation in vascular smooth muscle

    Författare :Asad Zeidan; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysiologi; Physiology; SM22a; ERK1 2; caveolae; stretch; Smooth muscle; differentiation;

    Sammanfattning : Vascular smooth muscle can adapt to increased intraluminal pressure by remodelling and hypertrophy, as seen in hypertension. The molecular mechanisms responsible for this are still incompletely characterized. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Prognostic role of tumour associated trypsin inhibitor in colorectal cancer patients

    Författare :Alexander Gaber; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; KRAS mutation; ERK1 2; TATI; Colorectal cancer; Prognosis; Biomarker; EGFR; STAT3;

    Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common forms of human cancer worldwide with approximately 1 million new cases detected every year. CEA is currently the only accepted CRC marker incorporated into clinical practice, where it is used for early detection of metastasis in follow-up of patients having stage II and III disease, and for monitoring response to adjuvant treatment.
