  1. 1. Unlocking the Role Of Orphan Solute Carrier SLC38A10 In Brain Metabolism : The SLC38A10 transporter in nutrient and metabolic regulation

    Författare :Rekha Tripathi; Robert Fredriksson; Manuel Palacín; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Solute carrier; SLC38A10 transporter; SLC38 family; ER Golgi localization; Amino acid starvation; Nutrient sensing; mTOR signaling; Transcriptomic; Protein array; Metabolomics; Ingenuity Pathway Analysis; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane transporters are the primary gatekeepers of cells and regulate the transport of nutrients, metabolites, ions, water, and neurotransmitters into and across the human cells. The solute carrier transporters (SLCs) are the most prominent transporters, comprising 430 members divided into 65 subfamilies. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Molecular basis and structural determinants for the cellular localization of cytochrome P450 2E1

    Författare :Etienne P A Neve; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) is the alcohol inducible member of the P450 family and has a role in gluconeogenesis under fasting conditions. However, CYP2E1 is mainly of toxicological significance and metabolizes xenobiotics to their carcinogenic and toxic metabolites and generates active oxygen species that can cause lipid peroxidation and apoptosis, processes observed in alcoholic liver disease (ALD). 3. 3. Characterization of p58 and rab1p, two proteins operating at the interface of the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi complex

    Författare :Ulla Lahtinen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :protein transport; rab1p; p58; animal lectin; intermediate compartment; endoplasmic reticulum; Golgi complex;

    Sammanfattning : Endomembranes participating in the early stages in exocytosis consist of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), the Golgi complex, and vesicular transport intermediates at their interface. These vesicular transport intermediates were first visualized by following the synchronized transport of a viral membrane protein from the ER to the Golgi complex, which occurs at slower rates at reduced temperatures causing an accumulation of transport vesicles. 4. 4. Mapping the Golgi retention signal in the G1 membrane glycoprotein of Uukuniemi virus, a member of the Bunyaviridae family

    Författare :Agneta M Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Golgi complex; retention signal; protein transport; virus membrane glycoproteins; virus budding; Uukuniemi virus; Phlebovirus; Bunyaviridae;

    Sammanfattning : Newly synthesized secretory and integral membrane proteins destined for the plasma membrane are transported along the exocytic pathway from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) via the Golgi complex (GC) to the cell surface. Some of the transported proteins contain information, which target them to their correct intracellular locations. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The atypical Rho GTPase RhoD and its role in cellular dynamics

    Författare :Magdalena Blom; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Despite its discovery 20 years ago, the accumulated knowledge about the Rho member RhoD is scarce. Instead, the vast majority of studies concerning Rho GTPases has focused on the three classical members RhoA, Cdc42 and Rac1. In contrast, RhoD is considered an atypical Rho GTPase, with an aberrant GTP/GDP cycling and an unknown regulation. LÄS MER
