  1. 1. Clinical expressions of juvenile hereditary retinal degenerations and macular dystrophies: Electrophysiological and genetic studies

    Författare :Louise Eksandh; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oftalmologi; Ophtalmology; Rod-monochromacy; Stargardt disease; Juvenile X-linked retinoschisis; Spielmeyer-Vogt disease; Best disease; multifocal-ERG; EOG; full-field ERG; Phenotype; genotype;

    Sammanfattning : Hereditary retinal degenerations are the most frequent reason for severe visual handicap among young people in Scandinavia today. In the six papers included in this thesis the phenotypic expressions, with emphasis on the electrophysiological findings, of five different juvenile hereditary retinal degenerations are described. 2. 2. Sleep apnea and sleep : diagnostic aspects

    Författare :Carin Sahlin; Karl Franklin; Eva Lindberg; Eva Svanborg; Åke Tegelberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sleep apnea; sleep stages; snoring; stroke; polysomnography; Cheyne-Stokes respiration; supine-dependency; Cardiovascular medicine; Kardiovaskulär medicin; Lung diseases; Lungsjukdomar; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Patients with sleep apnea have frequent apneas and hypopneas during sleep. Apneas can be either central or obstructive. The apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) is the mean number of apneas and hypopneas per hour of sleep. LÄS MER

  3. 3. When, Where and What : The Development of Perceived Spatio-Temporal Continuity

    Författare :Olga Kochukhova; Claes Von Hofsten; Richard Aslin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Psychology; infants; occlusion; incomplete visual information; saccadic gaze shifts; smooth pursuit; temporal; spatial; object representation; learning; extrapolation; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explored the development of infants’ ability to preserve spatio-temporal continuity of moving objects in situations where they disappeared completely (Study I & II) or partially (Study III) behind other objects (occluders). We recorded infants gaze direction with the help of two different techniques: 1) infants’ gaze shifts in Study I were measured with electro-oculogram (EOG) in combination with a motion analyzing system (Qualisys) that recorded the reflected infrared light from markers placed on the infant’s head and the moving object; 2) in Studies II and III a cornea reflection eye tracker was used (Tobii 1750) . 4. 4. Objective diagnostics of tinnitus

    Författare :Niklas K. Edvall; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background Tinnitus is the phantom perception of sound reported by around 14% of the population. For over 120 million people worldwide tinnitus is perceived as a major problem. Still, tinnitus is a heterogenous condition with no stratified sub-types or biomarkers for objective assessment. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Burnout and sleep

    Författare :Mirjam Ekstedt; T Akerstedt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sleep; burnout; sleepiness; fatigue; polysomnography; arousals; fragmentation; SWA; phenomenology; stress; metabolic; CVD;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe the physiological characteristics of sleep in persons with burnout and the relation between sleep and a number of physiological stress markers. The aim was also to evaluate the diurnal pattern of subjective sleepiness and fatigue across workday and weekend, and to describe the experiences of time preceding burnout from a life world perspective.
