  1. 1. EGF-like modules in blood coagulation proteins : Ca²+ binding, module interactions, structure and dynamics as studied by NMR spectroscopy

    Författare :Andreas Muranyi; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; residual dipolar couplings; protein S; factor VII; protein structure; calcium; blood coagulation; NMR spectroscopy; EGF modules; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Modules are independently folding protein domains defined on the gene level. The epidermal growth factor-like (EGF) modules are involved in protein-protein interactions and are found in numerous membrane proteins and extracellular proteins, including many proteins of the blood coagulation system. 2. 2. The EGF-like Modules of Anticoagulant Protein S. Studies of Ca2+ binding and module interactions

    Författare :Yvonne Stenberg; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; enzymology; Proteins; Klinisk kemi; Clinical chemistry; calcium binding; Protein S; EGF-like module; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Sammanfattning : Protein S functions as a cofactor to activated protein C (APC) in the degradation of factors Va and VIIIa. In plasma protein S circulates in two forms; 30-40 % circulates as free protein S molecules while the remaining 60-70 % exists in a 1:1 complex with C4b-binding protein (C4BP). Only the free form of protein S functions as a cofactor to APC. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The effect of sequence truncation and amino-acid substitutions on the biophysical properties of protein S and calbindin D9k

    Författare :Karin Julenius; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; surface plasmon resonance; fluorescence spectroscopy; circular dichroism spectroscopy; NMR spectroscopy; hydrophobic effect; protein stability; dimerization; cooperativity; calcium binding; EGF-module; EF-hand; calbindin D9k; protein S; synthet; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Protein S is a modular protein and a cofactor in the protein C anticoagulant system. It consists of a Gla-module, a thrombin-sensitive loop, four EGF-modules and a SHBG-like module. LÄS MER

  4. 4. NMR STUDIES ON STRUCTURE AND DYNAMICS OF TWO-DOMAIN PROTEINS

    Författare :Houman Ghasriani; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; Physical chemistry; Molekylär biofysik; CRISP-3; NMR; 3D-structure; NMR relaxation; Molecular biophysics; Prostate cancer; EGF module; PSP94; Beta-microseminoprotein; Protein S;

    Sammanfattning : The general objective of the present thesis work was to examine 3-dimensional structure as well as the motional properties of two different types of two-domain proteins by solution-state NMR. One of the major tasks of this thesis work was to investigate the domain orientation of these molecules by employing residual dipolar couplings (RDC) which can be used as orientational restraints for increasing the accuracy of protein structures determined by NMR. 5. 5. The N-terminal EGF Module of Coagulation factor IX. Studies of Calcium Binding and Module Interactions

    Författare :Kristina Persson; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coagulation FIX EGF module calcium binding interaction; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Coagulation factor IX (FIX) is a vitamin K-dependent serine protease zymogen that circulates in plasma. Defects in FIX cause the bleeding disorder hemophilia B. FIX contains a Gla module, two Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) -like modules and a serine protease region. LÄS MER
