  1. 1. Early-Decision Decoding of LDPC Codes

    Författare :Anton Blad; Oscar Gustafsson; Erik G. Larsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ECC; LDPC; communication; coding; decoding; low-power; Tanner; iterative algorithms; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Sammanfattning : Since their rediscovery in 1995, low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes have received wide-spread attention as practical capacity-approaching code candidates. It has been shown that the class of codes can perform arbitrarily close to the channel capacity, and LDPC codes are also used or suggested for a number of important current and future communication standards. 2. 2. Early childhood caries in relation to mode of delivery, preterm birth, tooth brushing habits, and signs of the metabolic syndrome

    Författare :Katarina Boustedt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; early childhood caries; preterm; caries; cesarean section; the metabolic syndrome; small for gestational age; tooth brushing; oral microbiota;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Early childhood caries (ECC) is defined as the presence of one or more decayed (non-cavitated or cavitated lesions), missing (due to caries), or filled surfaces in any primary tooth of a child under 6 years of age. ECC is highly prevalent in the world and largely untreated in children under the age of 3 years; it shares common risk factors with other non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity. 3. 3. Effects of Delayed versus Early Cord Clamping on Healthy Term Infants

    Författare :Ola Andersson; Lena Hellström-Westas; Magnus Domellöf; Heike Rabe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; active management; birth; breast feeding; cord clamping; ferritin; growth; haemoglobin; human infant; infections; iron; iron deficiency; iron deficiency anemia; iron status; morbidity; neurodevelopment; randomised controlled trial; umbilical cord; Pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study maternal and infant effects of delayed cord clamping (≥180 seconds, DCC) compared to early (≤10 seconds, ECC) in a randomised controlled trial. Practice and guidelines regarding when to clamp the cord vary globally, and different meta-analyses have shown contradictory conclusions on benefits and disadvantages of DCC and ECC. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular analysis of the oral microbiota of dental diseases

    Författare :Eleni Kanasi; Sirkka Asikainen; Anne CR Tanner; Ingegerd Johansson; Gunnar Dahlén; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; early childhood caries; early periodontitis; 16S rDNA cloning and sequencing; whole genomic DNA probes; oligonucleotide DNA probes; PCR; diversity; molecular; aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans; serotypes; Oral microbiology; Oral mikrobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Traditionally, bacterial culture has been used for bacterial detection, allowing study of living microorganisms. Molecular methods are rapid and allow simultaneous identification of numerous species and uncultivated phylotypes. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Structure and function of the ankle dorsiflexor muscles in young healthy men and women

    Författare :Anna Maria Drake; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; kinesitherapy; revalidation; rehabilitation; Rehabilitering medicinsk och social ; Physical medicine; reproducibility of results; muscle fibres; magnetic resonance imaging; isokinetic strength; skeletal muscle; Ankle joint;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to increase our knowledge of the relationship between structure and function of human skeletal muscle, and about factors affecting strength. The ankle dorsiflexor muscles (DF) were chosen as a representative model of human skeletal muscle, and because these muscles have important roles in gait and maintenance of balance. LÄS MER
