1. Cardiovascular modelling and ultrasound heart flow quantification : aortic flow and mitral regurgitation
Sammanfattning : The primary objective of this thesis was to model and simulate aortic flow and mitral regurgitation and to improve quantitative ultrasound measurements. The tools used were; theoretical analysis, computer simulation, model experiments, image analysis and clinical evaluation. LÄS MER
2. Game Theory and Agents
Sammanfattning : A fundamental problem in multi agent systems is conflict resolution. A conflict occurs in general when the agents have to deal with inconsistent goals, such as a demand for shared resources. We investigate how a game theoretic approach may be a helpful and efficient tool in examining a class of conflicts in multi agent systems. LÄS MER
3. Self-Regulation in Childhood : Developmental Mechanisms and Relations to ADHD Symptoms
Sammanfattning : Self-regulation is a multi-faceted construct that concerns goal-directed behaviors, which aid individuals in everyday life and in achieving long-term goals. Self-regulation in believed to progress in a hierarchical fashion, in that simple cognitive functions are integrated into more complex functions across development. LÄS MER
4. AC losses in HTS as a function of magnetic fields with arbitrary directions
Sammanfattning : Although a superconductor has zero resistivity when carrying a direct current, losses do occur when it is exposed to an alternating magnetic field and/or is carrying an alternating current. The magnitude of these so-called AC losses depends on the operating temperature, the amplitude and the direction of the magnetic field, the transport current, and the frequency. LÄS MER
5. The important role of left atrial function parameters in clinical practice
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the role of left atrial function in clinical practice based on the following studies:1) Determining left atrial (LA) structure and myocardial function measurements that predict pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP).2) Identifying predictors of exercise capacity in patients with HFpEF and right ventricle (RV) dysfunction.
