  2. 7. Striatal pathways in dyskinesia and dystonia

    Författare :Laura Andreoli; Basala gangliernas patofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Striatum; Dystonia; L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia; DREADD; Mouse model; Dopamine; dopamine receptor;

    Sammanfattning : Purposeful and well-coordinated movements depend on the control exerted by dopamine (DA) on the basal ganglia (BG) network. Accordingly, dysfunctions or lesions of the dopaminergic system in the BG can result in an overall poverty and slowness of movement, cardinal features of Parkinson´s disease (PD), or in dyskinesias, exaggerated and involuntary movements resulting from L-DOPA pharmacotherapy. 3. 8. Levodopa- and Neuroleptic-Induced Dyskinesias : Studies on Pharmacological Modification and Processing of Opioid Neuropeptides

    Författare :Rebecka Klintenberg; Alan Crossman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biological research on drug dependence; Opioid peptides; dyskinesia; Parkinson s disease; mass spectrometry; metabolism; Biologisk beroendeforskning; Biological research on drug dependence; Biologisk beroendeforskning; biologisk beroendeforskning; Biological Research on Drug Dependence;

    Sammanfattning : Dyskinesias or abnormal involuntary movements are a debilitating complication of long-term levodopa treatment of Parkinson’s disease (PD) that is widely experienced and may compromise the efficacy of the drug therapy. Tardive dyskinesia is another important adverse effect seen with antipsychotic drug treatment. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Toward a restorative therapy for Parkinson´s disease. Studies on the functional efficacy of intracerebral fetal cell transplants and GDNF delivery

    Författare :Christian Winkler; Neurobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurology; neuropsychology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; neurophysiology; dyskinesia; L-DOPA; behaviour; transplantation; neuroprotection; GDNF; substantia nigra; striatum;

    Sammanfattning : Parkinson´s disease is characterized by a progressive degeneration of the nigral dopaminergic system. Treatment of disease symptoms using L-DOPA frequently induces side effects such as L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Microvascular plasticity and neurovascular coupling in the pharmacotherapy of Parkinson's disease

    Författare :Elisabet Ohlin; Basala gangliernas patofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parkinson s disease; levodopa; dyskinesia; angiogenesis; cerebral blood flow; blood-brain barrier;

    Sammanfattning : L-DOPA pharmacotherapy in Parkinson’s disease (PD) is associated with adverse effects occurring after a few years of treatment. Among these, dyskinesia (abnormal involuntary movements) is particularly common and potentially disabling. LÄS MER
