12. Computational Investigation of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells
Sammanfattning : Interfaces between semiconductors and adsorbed molecules form a central area of research in surface science, occurring in many different contexts. One such application is the so-called Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) where the nanostructured dye-semiconductor interface is of special interest, as this is where the most important ultrafast electron transfer process takes place. 13. Dye-sensitized nanostructured metal oxide electrodes : Photoelectrochemical, quantum chemical and electron spectroscopic studies
Sammanfattning : Solar cells based on dye-Sensitized nanostructured electrodes are promising for solar energy conversion. High overall light-to-energy conversion efficiencies have been obtained for systems based on TiO2 (7%) and ZnO (2%). The photocurrent losses in these electrodes have been investigated by photoelectrochemical methods. LÄS MER
14. Ab initio simulations of core level spectra : Towards an atomistic understanding of the dye-sensitized solar cell
Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis is ab initio modeling of core level spectra with a high-level quantum chemical description both of the chemical interactions and of local atomic multiplet effects. In particular, the combination of calculations and synchrotron-based core-level spectroscopy aims at understanding the local structure of the electronic valence in transition metal complexes, and the details of the solvation mechanisms of electrolyte solutions, systems relevant for the dye-sensitized solar cell. 15. Studies of Semiconductors Modified with Nanoscale Light Absorbers for Solar Cell Application
Sammanfattning : Recently, materials such as hole conductors (CuI, CuSCN) and light absorbers (Ru-complexes, CuInS2) have been actively investigated for application in nanocrystalline solar cells. In this thesis combinations of these materials have been studied. LÄS MER
