6. Lower limb venous incompetence and the effect of radiofrequency ablation versus open surgery : Focus on haemodynamics, quality of life and health economic aspects
Sammanfattning : Chronic venous incompetence (CVI) is a common condition, and varicose vein treatment is one of the most-common surgical procedures performed worldwide. Common symptoms of CVI are pain, cramps, itching, feeling of leg heaviness and venous claudication. Advanced CVI can lead to skin changes, eczema and venous ulcers. LÄS MER
7. Articular distension in arthroscopy : an experimental study on intra- and extra-articular effects of pressure
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to analyse the effects of various intra-articular pressures (IAP) on soft tissues and to provide guidelines for the choice of safe infusion pressures during arthroscopy. The tensile properties of the knee-joint capsule were recorded from stress-strain-relaxation tests within 170 mmHg IAP. LÄS MER
8. On contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography of the aortoiliac arteries
Sammanfattning : In contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA),vascular signal is produced by the acquisition of a T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging scan while the presence of a contrast agent induces a low T1 in blood. In this thesis,CE-MRA of the aortoiliac arteries was evaluated. LÄS MER
9. Effects of early functional mobilization after acute Achilles tendon rupture repair
Sammanfattning : Background: Patient outcome after Achilles tendon rupture (ATR) varies greatly, and complications such as deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and tendon elongation are common. Although accelerated rehabilitation is considered safe, the optimal content of the rehabilitation protocol is still unknown. LÄS MER
10. Primary deep vein thrombosis in an upper limb : a retrospective study with an emphasis on the pathogenesis and late sequelae
Sammanfattning : Background: Upper extremity deep vein thrombosis (UEDVT) is an uncommon disease with an incidence of 1–11% of all deep vein thrombosis. UEDVT can be classified into two groups, primary and secondary UEDVT. Primary UEDVT includes idiopathic and effort-related UEDVT. Secondary UEDVT is caused by central venous devices, trauma, and cancer. LÄS MER
