  1. 16. The enterocyte in small intestinal adaption : an experimental and clinicopathological study with special reference to the ultrastructure of the brush border

    Författare :Roger Stenling; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Scanning electron microscopy; transmission electron microscopy; stereology;

    Sammanfattning : The small intestine mucosa is known to be able to adapt itself to several kinds of both physiological and pathological conditions. The adaptive patterns of the structure of the enterocytes, particularly their apical surface (brush border), were studied in three models: (1) in rats, subjected to antrectomy or antral exclusion, combined with gastroduodenostomy and gastrojejunostomy; (2) in rats with alloxan diabetes; (3) in children with coeliac disease; a) in its active phase; b) after long-term treatment with gluten-free diets; c) after long-term challenge with dietary gluten following treatment; d) after short-term elimination of dietary gluten. 2. 17. T Cell recruitment in human Helicobacter pylori associated diseases

    Författare :Karin Enarsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection is associated with pronounced infiltration of granulocytes and lymphocytes into the gastric mucosa, resulting in active chronic gastritis that may develop into duodenal ulcer disease or gastric adenocarcinoma (GC). Infiltrating T cells play a major role in the pathology of these diseases, but the signals involved in recruitment of T cells from blood to H. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Helicobacter pylori adhesion and patho-adaptation : the role of BabA and SabA adhesins in persistent infection and chronic inflammation

    Författare :Jafar Mahdavi; Henrik Clausen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :H. pylori; BabA; adhesin; Lewis b; MUC5AC; sialyl-dimeric-Lewis x; chronic inflammation; SabA; Lewis x; LPS; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a human-specific gastric pathogen which is responsible for a spectrum of diseases ranging from superficial gastritis to gastric and duodenal ulceration, and which is also highly associated with gastric cancer. The pathogenesis of severe gastric disorders caused by H. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Neutrophil recruitment in H. pylori induced inflammation: characterization of regulatory factors

    Författare :Mikael Innocenti; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Helicobacter pylori; endothelial cells; neutrophils; monocytes; transendothelial; migration; chemokines; cytokines; adhesion molecules inflammation; LPS; CagPAI; VacA;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium colonizing the human gastric mucosa, is strongly associatedwith the development of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as gastric, adenocarcinoma.Virtually all infected individuals develop active chronic gastritis characterized by a continousinfiltration of neutrophils as well as mononuclear cells.
