  1. 1. Through air drying : Thermographic studies of drying rates, drying non-uniformity and infrared assisted drying

    Författare :Aron Tysén; Lars Nilsson; Shri Ramaswamy; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Through air drying; TAD; Drying; Dewatering; Water removal; Infrared drying; Non-uniformity; Variability; Formation; Thermography; Tissue; Fabric; Wire; Pulp; Grammage; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The removal of water is an integral part of papermaking. The drying process is responsible for a great share of the energy used in the paper machine. Premium grade tissue products are dried by through air drying. Large volumes of natural gas are burned to heat the air drawn through the paper web to achieve the drying. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Through air drying : The influence of formation and pulp type on non-uniform drying and air flow

    Författare :Aron Tysén; Christophe Barbier; Lars Nilsson; Hannes Vomhoff; Stig Stenström; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Drying; Dewatering; Water removal; Moisture; Non-uniformity; Variability; Tissue; TAD; Through air drying; Thermography; Formation; Pulp; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The removal of water is an integral part of tissue paper production. Through air drying (TAD) is used for water removal when producing premium tissue grade products, however, at the price of higher energy demand. A better understanding of TAD may therefore lower the energy demand. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Energy Efficient Textile Drying

    Författare :Lena Brunzell; Bengt Månsson; Roger Renström; Jonas Berghel; Odilio Alves-Filho; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tumble dryer; drying; textile; energy and mass balance; control strategy; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Miljö- och energisystem; Environmental and Energy Systems;

    Sammanfattning : Traditionally, textiles were dried outdoors with the wind and the sun enhancing the drying process. Tumble dryers offer a fast and convenient way of drying textiles independent of weather conditions. Tumble dryers, however, consume large amounts of electrical energy. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Colour Response in Drying of Nordic Hardwoods

    Författare :Stefan Stenudd; Thomas Thörnqvist; Timo Kärki; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; beech; Betula pendula; birch; CIELAB; discolouration; drying; Fagus sylvatica; log storage; oak; press drying; wood colour; Quercus robur; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Colour and appearance of hardwood are of great importance for the interiorand furniture industry. The widespread use of transparent surface treatmentand a fashion that prescribe light colour on many species, means that deviationfrom the ideal have considerable impact on the industrial operations. 5. 5. An Analytical Solution Applied to Heat and Mass Transfer in a Vibrated Fluidised Bed Dryer

    Författare :Apolinar Picado; Joaquín Martínez; Göran Lindbergh; Ivars Neretnieks; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Analytical solution; Heat and mass transfer; Temperature and moisture distribution; Drying modelling; Multicomponent drying; Drying selectivity; Volatile retention; Ternary mixture; Drying of particulate materials; Vibrated fluidised bed dryer; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A mathematical model for the drying of particulate solids in a continuous vibrated fluidised bed dryer was developed and applied to the drying of grain wetted with a single liquid and porous particles containing multicomponent liquid mixtures. Simple equipment and material models were applied to describe the process. LÄS MER
