  1. 1. Functional study of hemolymph coagulation in Drosophila larvae

    Författare :Zhi Wang; Ulrich Theopold; Brian Lazzaro; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; innate immunity; hemolymph coagulation; clot components; Drosophila larvae; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Many pathogen infections in nature are accompanied by injury and subsequent coagulation. Despite the contribution of hemolymph coagulation to wound sealing, little is known about its immune function. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Deciphering the Alk signaling pathway in Drosophila

    Författare :Fredrik Hugosson; Ruth H. Palmer; Osamu Shimmi; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; Alk; RTK; visceral mesoderm; signal transduction; growth factor; transcription factor; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : In Drosophila melanogaster the visceral mesoderm (VM) develops during embryogenesis in a process where myoblasts become specified to generate two distinct cell types, the founder cells (FCs) and the fusion competent myoblasts (FCMs) that consequently fuses. The cell specification is dependent on cell signaling mediated by the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (Alk) and its ligand Jelly belly (Jeb), how this further sets up different identity programs that drive myoblasts to differentiate into FCs and FCMs is still not well understood. 3. 3. Regulators of chromatin and transcription in Drosophila

    Författare :Filip Crona; Mattias Mannervik; Fernando Azorin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transcription; chromatin; co-regulators; CBP; lysine demethylase; KDM4A; Brakeless; Drosophila; utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Development of multicellular organisms is achieved by organized temporal and spatial patterns of gene expression leading to cell differentiation. Chromatin regulators control how the DNA is utilized by altering access of proteins to DNA and thereby function as co-factors in transcription. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular characterization of the Drosophila responses towards nematodes

    Författare :Md. Badrul Arefin; Ulrich Theopold; Ioannis Eleftherianos; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; nematodes; infection; danger situations; immune response; coagulation; apoptosis; nitric oxide; leukemia; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : A sophisticated evolutionary conserved innate immune system has evolved in insects to fight pathogens and to restrict damage in harmful (danger) situations including cancer. A significant amount of knowledge about different infection models in Drosophila has been generated in past decades, which revealed functional resemblances and implications for vertebrate systems. 5. 5. Activation of the Cellular Immune Response in Drosophila melanogaster Larvae

    Författare :Ines Anderl; Dan Hultmark; Paul Badenhorst; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila melanogaster; immunity; blood cells; hematopoiesis; flow cytometry; in vivo imaging; genetic screens; Tl10b; fat body; Toll signaling; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : During the last 40 years, Drosophila melanogaster has become an invaluable tool in understanding innate immunity. The innate immune system of Drosophila consists of a humoral and a cellular component. While many details are known about the humoral immune system, our knowledge about the cellular immune system is comparatively small. LÄS MER
