    Sammanfattning : Several aspects make today’s transport system non-sustainable: • Production, transport and combustion of fossil fuels lead to global and local environmental problems. • Oil dependency in the transport sector may lead to economical and political instability. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Efficiency Analysis of Drive-train for an Electrified Vehicle

    Författare :Ali Rabiei; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Drive cycles; Current vector control; Vehicle applications; Silicon carbide; Power electronics; Energy efficiency; Loss calculation; Electric machines;

    Sammanfattning : In this PhD thesis, various solutions to improve the energy efficiency in the electrical drive-train of an electrified vehicle such as modifications of the propulsioninverter or control of the electric machine, are proposed and their benefits arequantified from an energy efficiency point of view. The efficiency analysis isbased on modeling of a power electronics inverter, an electric machine and a battery in various drive cycles for an electrified vehicle. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Investigation of a Multilevel Inverter for Electric Vehicle Applications

    Författare :Oskar Josefsson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Plug-in Electric Vehicle PEV ; Electric Vehicle EV ; LiFePO4.; Integrated Charger; Efficiency; Drive Cycle; Battery modelling; Multilevel Inverter MLI ; Two-level Inverter TLI ;

    Sammanfattning : Electrified vehicles on the market today all use the classical two-level inverter as the propulsion inverter. This thesis analyse the potential of using a cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter as the propulsion inverter. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Energy Efficiency Comparison Between Two-level and Multilevel Inverters for Electric Vehicle Applications

    Författare :Oskar Josefsson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electric Vehicle EV ; Drive Cycle; Plug-in Electric Vehicle PEV ; Multilevel Inverter MLI ; Two-level Inverter TLI ; Efficiency.; Integrated Charger;

    Sammanfattning : In order to contribute to the development of energy and cost efficient electric vehicles, a thorough analysis of two different electric converter topologies is performed, considering different drive cycles and different control strategies. In the electric vehicles available on the market today, a high voltage (200−400 V ) battery pack composed of several battery modules is connected to one or more inverters which create AC voltages to the electric propulsion machines. 5. 5. Coupled Simulations of Cooling and Engine Systems for Unsteady Analysis of the Benefits of Thermal Engine Encapsulation

    Författare :Blago Minovski; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Oil system; Cooling system; Drive cycle; CFD simulations; Fuel consumption; Engine encapsulation; 1D simulations;

    Sammanfattning : A well-designed engine encapsulation can extend engine cool-down time significantly - on the order of 500 - 700%. This is expected to have a sensitive influence on the fuel consumption due to the increased probability for high oil temperatures at the following engine start, reduced length of the initial warm-up period and consequently, reduced friction losses.
