  1. 1. Epidemiology of food hypersensitivity in school children : validation with double-blind placebo-controlled food challenges and biomarkers

    Författare :Anna Winberg; Christina West; Eva Rönmark; Sibylle Koletzko; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; food hypersensitivity; schoolchildren; epidemiology; food challenges; biomarkers;

    Sammanfattning : Background: This thesis focuses on the incidence and remission of reported food hypersensitivity in schoolchildren followed from 8 to 12 -years of age and the prevalence of hypersensitivity to milk, egg, cod and wheat among 12-year olds investigated by reported data, clinical investigation and double-blind placebo-controlled food challenges and biomarkers.Methods: The studies are mainly based on a population based cohort recruited in 2006 from three municipalities in Northern Sweden. 2. 2. Effects of FODMAPs and gluten on irritable bowel syndrome- from self-reported symptoms to molecular profiling

    Författare :Elise Nordin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; short-chain fatty acids; metabotyping; Bristol Stool Form Scale; randomized clinical trial; double-blind; irritable bowel syndrome; FODMAPs; microbiota; personalized nutrition; fecal consistency; differential responses; metabolomics; stool water content; gluten;

    Sammanfattning : Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a complex disorder of gut-brain interactions. The diagnosis of IBS is based on subjective reporting of abdominal pain and altered bowel habits in the absence of any clinical alterations of the gut or other pathological conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Food hypersensitivity among schoolchildren : prevalence, Health Related Quality of Life and experiences of double-blind placebo-controlled food challenges

    Författare :Åsa Strinnholm; Rönmark Eva; Viveca Lindh; Linnéa Hedman; Inger Kull; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epidemiology; food-induced symptoms; food-reintroduction; interview;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The prevalence of reported food hypersensitivity among children has increased in Western countries. However, the prevalence varies largely due to differences in methods used in different studies. Double-blind placebo-controlled food challenge (DBPCFC) is the most reliable method to verify or exclude food hypersensitivity. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Treatment of Temporomandibular Disorders of Arthrogeneous Origin. Controlled double-blind studies of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and a stabilisation appliance

    Författare :EwaCarin Ekberg; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Temporomandibular Joint Disorders; Randomized Controlled Trials; Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Agents; Occlusal Splints; Treatment Outcome; Mandibular Condyle Radiography; Subtraction Technique; Radiographic Image Enhancement; Causality; Odontology; stomatology; Odontologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to prospectively evaluate the short-term effect of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (diclofenac sodium, Voltaren) and stabilisation appliance in controlled trials of patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) of arthrogeneous origin. The active treatments were compared to placebo in the study of diclofenac and to a control appliance in the other study. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Significance of serotonin for pain, allodynia, and hyperalgesia in the human masseter muscle

    Författare :Malin Ernberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Anxiety; Double-Blind Method; 5-Hydroxytryptamine; Fibromyalgia; Hyperalgesia; Masseter muscle; Microdialysis; Pain threshold; Visual Analogue Pain Scale;

    Sammanfattning : The main aim of this thesis was to investigate the hypothesis that serotonin (5-HT) is involved in the pathophysiology of human chronic muscle pain. The thesis comprises a clinical and a human experimental part. LÄS MER
