1. Estimation of Dosing Strategies for Individualisation
Sammanfattning : To increase the proportion of patients with successful drug treatment, dose individualisation on the basis of one or several patient characteristics, a priori individualisation, and/or on the basis of feedback observations from the patient following an initial dose, a posteriori individualisation, is an option. Efficient tools in optimising individualised dosing strategies are population models describing pharmacokinetics (PK) and the relation between pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD). LÄS MER
2. Direct Thrombin Inhibitors in Treatment and Prevention of Venous Thromboembolism: Dose – Concentration – Response Relationships
Sammanfattning : For prevention and treatment of thrombotic diseases with an anticoagulant drug it is important that an adequate dose is given to avoid occurrence or recurrence of thrombosis, without increasing the risk of bleeding and other adverse events to unacceptable levels. The aim of this thesis was to develop mathematical models that describe the dose-concentration (pharmacokinetic) and concentration-response (pharmacodynamic) relationships of direct thrombin inhibitors, in order to estimate optimal dosages for treatment and long-term secondary prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE). 3. Studies of a Heavy-Duty Diesel Aftertreatment System Based on the NOX Storage and Reduction Technology
Sammanfattning : The legislative limits for NOX emissions in the exhaust gas from heavy-duty diesel engines will be decreased in the European Union from today 3.5 g/kWh (Euro IV) to 2.0 g/kWh in 2008 (Euro V). In the USA and Japan a similar trend can be seen. LÄS MER
4. Catalytic Reduction of NOx on Heavy-Duty Trucks
Sammanfattning : The objective of the work described in this thesis is to identify the principles and parts of an aftertreatment system for the catalytic NOx reduction for heavy-duty diesel vehicles, and to demonstrate such a system in full-scale. The reducing agent is diesel fuel. LÄS MER
5. Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Modeling of Antibiotics and Bacterial Drug Resistance
Sammanfattning : Exposure to antibiotics is an important factor influencing the development of bacterial resistance. In an era where very few new antibiotics are being developed, a strategy for the development of optimal dosing regimen and combination treatment that reduces the rate of resistance development and overcome existing resistance is of utmost importance.
