  1. 1. Wearable sensors for monitoring epilepsy and Parkinson´s disease

    Författare :Dongni Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epilepsy; Parkinson’s disease; Wearable sensors; Continuous and objective monitoring; End users’ perceptions; Qualitative content analysis; Machine learning algorithms; Tonic-clonic seizure detection; Dose titration; Motor state recognition;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease (PD) are conditions where management would benefit greatly from monitoring symptoms over longer time periods in natural everyday environments instead of only intermittent assessments at clinics. Wearable technology with built-in sensors such as accelerometers and gyroscopes, could allow continuous and objective long-term monitoring of movement patterns. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Thiopurine S-methyltransferase - characterization of variants and ligand binding

    Författare :Annica Blissing; Lars-Göran Mårtensson; Tomas Nyman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thiopurine S-methyltransferase TPMT ; protein stability; enzyme kinetics; ligand binding; isothermal titration calorimetry ITC ; 8-anilinonaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid ANS ;

    Sammanfattning : Thiopurine S-methyltransferase (TPMT) belongs to the Class I S-adenosylmethionine-dependent methyltransferase (SAM-MT) super family of structurally related proteins. Common to the members of this large protein family is the catalysis of methylation reactions using S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) as a methyl group donor, although SAM-MTs act on a wide range of different substrates and carry out numerous biologically important functions. 3. 3. IGF-I in growth hormone deficiency and in type 1 diabetes

    Författare :Bertil Ekman; Jens Sandahl Christiansen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Both GH-deficiency and type 1 diabetes are associated with low IGF-I levels. The aim with our studies was to develop a dose titration model to obtain physiological IGF-I levels in growth hormone deficiency and to evaluate the relationship between glycaemic control and IGF-I in diabetes. 4. 4. Risk Factors and Predictors of Heart Failure: from Incidence to Prognosis

    Författare :Constantinos Ergatoudes; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; heart failure; prognosis; characteristics; risk factors; incidence; prediction;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Heart failure (HF) is a major public health problem affecting at least 26 million people worldwide and one of the leading causes of disability and death. Aims: To identify characteristics associated with improved or worsened prognosis in patients with established HF and to study factors associated with higher risk for the incidence of HF in the general population. 5. 5. Bridging the gap between clinical trials and clinical practice : sacubitril-valsartan in heart failure as a model

    Författare :Helena Norberg; Krister Lindmark; Ellinor Bergdahl; Eva-Lotta Glader; Björn Wettermark; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Systematic implementation; healthcare quality improvement; chronic disease management; heart failure; sacubitril-valsartan; real-world population; sex differences; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : When novel treatments prove more effective than standard therapies, a swift and effective implementation is needed to reach cost-effectiveness and to benefit eligible patients. Meanwhile, women and elderly are often under-represented in clinical trials, which creates a knowledge gap on how to optimize treatment in clinical practice. LÄS MER
