1. New Concepts in Administration of Drugs in Tablet Form : Formulation and Evaluation of a Sublingual Tablet for Rapid Absorption, and Presentation of an Individualised Dose Administration System
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents two new concepts in oral drug administration and the results of evaluation of some relevant formulation factors.Investigation into improving the homogeneity of mixtures for tableting indicated that it may be possible to obtain interactive dry mixtures of micronised drugs containing drug proportions as low as 0.015% w/w. 2. Radiotherapy in a FLASH : Towards clinical translation of ultra-high dose rate electron therapy
Sammanfattning : FLASH radiotherapy (FLASH-RT) is a promising new approach to radiotherapy that has the potential to transform the field. By administering radiation at ultra-high dose rates (UHDR) on a millisecond timescale, FLASH-RT may increase normal tissue tolerance compared to conventional radiotherapy while maintaining the anti-tumoral effect. 3. Radiation burden from modern radiation therapy techniques including proton therapy for breast cancer treatment - clinical implications
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to study the clinical implications of modern radiotherapy techniques for breast cancer treatment. This was investigated in several individual studies. LÄS MER
4. Quality assurance for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in radiotherapy
Sammanfattning : Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) utilizes the magnetic properties of tissues to generate image-forming signals. MRI has exquisite soft-tissue contrast and since tumors are mainly soft-tissues, it offers improved delineation of the target volume and nearby organs at risk. LÄS MER
5. Image Analysis for Trabecular Bone Properties on Cone-Beam CT Data
Sammanfattning : Trabecular bone structure as well as bone mineral density (BMD) have impact on the biomechanical competence of bone. In osteoporosis-related fractures, there have been shown to exist disconnections in the trabecular network as well as low bone mineral density. Imaging of bone parameters is therefore of importance in detecting osteoporosis. LÄS MER
