    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the publication, design, dissemination and use of patterns for knitting and crochet in Sweden in the mid-nineteenth century. It investigates why the mediation of patterns for knitting and crochet changed during this period and what these changes reveal about the handicraft skills of the target group and the social context for which the patterns were produced.     Sammanfattning : This PhD research project investigates how the professional identity of the Chinese TV news presenter is constructed in two news programmes, Guangdong News and TVS News, both based at Guangdong TV.     Sammanfattning : From an institutionalized conception of contemporary intellectuals as silent or absent, the aim of this thesis is to analyse how the representation of the intellectual changed from a hero of reason to a more or less absent actor. Descriptions of intellectuals that were initially analysed which showed that the representation of the intellectual, besides being linked to modernity, contained a relationship between the individual actor and political power, a relationship which could be traced back to ancient myths.     Sammanfattning : This thesis highlights the standpoints of Swedish planning practice towards city centres and emphasises a critical power perspective in respect of the town centre development. The aim is to analyse critically how city centres are discursively constructed in contemporary Swedish urban planning and design and to enhance the understanding of what this means in respect of how spatial power relations in cities are created and consolidated.
