21. Optical Diagnostics Applied to Internal Combustion Engines: Catalysis, Sprays and Combustion
Sammanfattning : Gasoline direct injection with spray-guided charge formation is one of the most promising concepts to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of spark ignited engines. The advantages with the system are owing to un-throttled operation and stratification of the injected fuel resulting in a globally lean combustion. LÄS MER
22. Microwave Radiometric Observations of the Middle Atmosphere: Simulations and Inversions
Sammanfattning : Two well-known examples of global environmental problems are the ozone depletion and the enhanced greenhouse effect. The importance and the complexity of these questions generate a demand for improved atmospheric observations, and microwave radiometry is an approach which is increasingly important for measurements of the middle atmosphere (10-100 km). 23. Bra mat och dåliga varor : Om förtroendefulla relationer och oroliga reaktioner på livsmedelsmarknaden
Sammanfattning : This dissertation takes up the consequences of the transition from a traditional to a modern food system. According to some researchers, the modernization of food production has led to a crisis of confidence in today’s food system and consumers are said to experience alienation, gastro-anomie, and distrust towards food products (see Murcott, Mennell & Van Otterloo 1992; Fischler 1980; 1988). 24. Molecular observations at high and low redshifts with the Odin satellite
Sammanfattning : The papers in this thesis have the aim of expanding our knowledge of different processes related to star formation in the early Universe and at present times. A complex chemistry occurs in star forming clouds and by observing molecules, information about the necessary physical and chemical conditions for star formation can be obtained. LÄS MER
25. Studies of Volcanic Influence on Aerosols, Clouds and Climate
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the influence of volcanism on the compositions of the aerosols in the upper troposphere (UT) and lowermost stratosphere (LMS), and their direct and indirect impact on climate. Aerosol data were obtained by aircraft-borne sampling, using the CARIBIC (Civil Aircraft for the Regular Investigation of the Atmosphere Based on an Instrument Container) platform, and laboratory-based ion beam analysis of aerosol samples at the Lund Ion Beam Analysis Facility (LIBAF).
