11. Studies on instability and optimal forcing of incompressible flows
Sammanfattning : This thesis considers the hydrodynamic instability and optimal forcing of a number of incompressible flow cases. In the first part, the instabilities of three problems that are of great interest in energy and aerospace applications are studied, namely a Blasius boundary layer subject to localized wall-suction, a Falkner–Skan–Cooke boundary layer with a localized surface roughness, and a pair of helical vortices. 12. Towards Human Supervisory Control in Advanced Manufacturing Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis is on the topic of Human Supervisory Control in Advanced Manufacturing Systems (AMS). Presently, these systems suffer from inferior reliability and low productivity, unless "nursed" by skilled operators. Operators controlling the AMS are approaching a work situation similar to that of operators in continuous process manufacturing. LÄS MER
13. Influences, effects and changes from interventions by eco-labelling schemes - What a Swan can do?
Sammanfattning : Eco-labelling is a voluntary and informative policy instrument aiming at stimulating environmentally beneficial product development through using the market forces. The Nordic Swan eco-labelling scheme has been in operation since 1989. LÄS MER
14. Middle Ear Pressure; A New Method for Continuous Direct Measurements
Sammanfattning : Disturbances in the pressure homeostasis of the middle ear (ME) system cause a pressure gradient across the tympanic membrane lessen the effectiveness of sound transmission and may be associated to development of chronic ME disease. An equipment for continuous direct pressure measurements was developed and was found to be accurate, base-line stabile and portable. LÄS MER
15. Iridium Catalyzed Carbon- Heteroatom Bond Forming Reactions via Hydrogen Transfer : Method Development and Mechanistic Elucidations
Sammanfattning : The present thesis describes the applicability of two different iridium(III) complexes for C-O and C-N bond forming reactions. The different projects described in this work are united by the use of an iridium catalyst bearing a functionalized N-heterocyclic carbene ligand. LÄS MER
