2. Impact of the gut microflora on the digestive system in the suckling rat
Sammanfattning : The postnatal development of the gastrointestinal (GI) system in mammals is genetically programmed, but is, to an unknown extent, regulated by external factors such as the diet and the gut microflora. These factors can influence the growth of the GI tract, the age-related pattern of appearance of digestive enzymes and the decreased intestinal macromolecular permeability at gut closure, normally timed with weaning in young rodents. 3. Regulation of digestive organ. An experimental study on the role of CCK, Bile and EGF
Sammanfattning : Cholecystokinin (CCK) is known to exert secretory and trophic effects on the pancreas. Its release from the intestinal mucosa is regulated by pancresic proteases in the small intestine. However, knowledge about the type of responding exocrine cells and the time course of events during stimulation with CCK is lacking. LÄS MER
4. Imaging the pancreas : new aspects on lobular development and adult constitution
Sammanfattning : The mouse pancreas is a mixed exocrine and endocrine glandconsisting of three lobular compartments: the splenic, duodenal and gastric lobes. During embryogenesis, the pancreas forms from two progenitor populations located on the dorsal and ventral side of the primitive gut tube. LÄS MER
5. Induced Growth and Precocious Maturation of the Digestive System in Suckling Rats and Pigs after Exposure to Red Kidney Bean Lectin
Sammanfattning : The timing of the postnatal development of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract in mammals is influenced by dietary and hormonal factors. It was hypothesized that accelerated GI cell turnover during maturation would result in a precoucios conversion to more mature digestive functions. LÄS MER
