21. Diffusion of Water in Foods during Heating
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this research was to improve the knowledge of diffusion of water in foods during heating, so that the final quality of foods after heat processing could be predicted and controlled. The work consisted of three main parts. The first part involved the development of a method to study the diffusion. LÄS MER
22. Diffusion Dynamics and the Pricing of Innovations
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis deals with two closely interconnected phenomena, the adoption and diffusion of innovations. The research aims at developing both the theory of individual adoption decisions and the theory of the diffusion of an innovation in society. LÄS MER
23. Diffusion, Swelling and Mechanical Properties of Polymers
Sammanfattning : Polymers capability to withstand harmful interactions withdifferent environments can be determined by looking at thetransport and mechanical properties of the material exposed tothe medium. The diffusion of a penetrant in a polymer and itsswelling characteristics can be verified by a simplesorption-desorption experiment followed by methodical analysisof the data. LÄS MER
24. Stochastic Simulation of Multiscale Reaction-Diffusion Models via First Exit Times
Sammanfattning : Mathematical models are important tools in systems biology, since the regulatory networks in biological cells are too complicated to understand by biological experiments alone. Analytical solutions can be derived only for the simplest models and numerical simulations are necessary in most cases to evaluate the models and their properties and to compare them with measured data. 25. Alternative methods for analysing moisture transport in buildings : Utilisation of tracer gas and natural stable isotopes
Sammanfattning : New methods, based on tracer gas measurements and isotopicanalysis can be used to evaluate the moisture properties ofbuilding materials and provide the means for forensic analysisof the origins and history of excessive water in buildings, theimmediate practical consequences of which will be the abilityto improve the moisture performance of constructions. It is shown, in theory and through measurements how thewater vapour permeability of porous building materials can witha good degree of accuracy be estimated with tracer gasmeasurements that provide an efficient alternative to the cupmethod.
