  1. 6. Scattering of seismic waves in random velocity models : Finite difference simulation

    Författare :Lena Frenje; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The small-scale heterogeneities within the Earth's crust and the effect these heterogeneities have on seismic waves have gained increasing interest in the last 15 years. One approach to study seismic wave scattering is through numerical simulations in random media. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Norm and difference : Stone Age dietary practice in the Baltic region

    Författare :Gunilla Eriksson; Kerstin Lidén; Birgit Arrhenius; Michael Richards; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Stone Age research on Northern Europe frequently makes gross generalizations about the Mesolithic and Neolithic, although we still lack much basic knowledge on how the people lived. The transition from the Mesolithic to the Neolithic in Europe has been described as a radical shift from an economy dominated by marine resources to one solely dependent on farming. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Making a difference : Exploring the teaching and learning of the English progressive aspect among Swedish 6th grade students

    Författare :Clare Lindström; Ulla Runesson; Yuefeng Ellen Zhang; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to generate knowledge about what 6th grade students (12-13 years old) need to discern in order to be able to use the English progressive aspect (PROG) in a syntactically and semantically accurate way. This object of learning is not only complex, but it is unmarked grammatically in Swedish, which poses considerable difficulties for English language learners. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : An increasing number of educational policies, academic studies, and university courses today propagate ‘interculturality’ as a method for approaching ‘the Other’ and reconciling universal values and cultural specificities. Based on a thorough discussion of Europe’s colonial past and the hierarchies of knowledge that colonialism established, this dissertation interrogates the definitions of intercultural knowledge put forth by EU policy discourse, academic textbooks on interculturality, and students who have completed a university course on the subject. Sammanfattning : HOW CAN WE PLAN AND DESIGN FOR community in diverse urban situations? In response to segregation and social fragmentation, public space is increasingly being conceived of as a vehicle for fostering openness towards differences, both in planning practice and theory. Drawing on two recent public space projects – Superkilen in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Jubileumsparken in Gothenburg, Sweden – this thesis explores what this hopeful idea may mean in terms of the actual making of public space.
