  1. 1. Dietary Fatty Acids and Inflammation : Observational and Interventional Studies

    Författare :Helena Bjermo; Ulf Risérus; Tommy Cederholm; Parveen Yaqoob; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dietary fat; Fatty acids; Serum fatty acid composition; Linoleic acid; Stearoyl coenzymeA desaturase; SCD-1; Inflammation; C-reactive protein; Oxidative stress; Lipid peroxidation; Isoprostanes; Prostaglandins; Obesity; Epidemiology; Dietary intervention; Metabolic syndrome; Nutrition; Näringslära; Epidemiology; Epidemiologi; Public health science; Folkhälsovetenskap; Immunology; Immunologi; Diabetology; Diabetologi; Cardiology; Kardiologi; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Dietary fat quality influences the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. A low-grade inflammation is suggested to contribute to the disease development, often accompanied by obesity. Whereas n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have been considered anti-inflammatory, n-6 PUFA have been proposed to act pro-inflammatory. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Diet and Cardiometabolic Disease : Dietary trends and the impact of diet on diabetes and cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Benno Krachler; Bernt Lindahl; Göran Hallmans; Mats Eliasson; Ingvar Bosaeus; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medicine; Cross-sectional study; Cross-sectional survey; Diet; Dietary intake; Dietary survey; Food consumption; Food frequency; Milk; MONICA; Sweden; Body Mass Index; Hip circumference; Waist circumference; Diabetes; Metabolic syndrome; Cardiometabolic syndrome; Cardiovascular disease; Erythrocyte Membrane; Fatty Acids; Membrane Lipids; Fatty acid desaturases; Pentadecanoic acid; Heptadecanoic acid; Lignan; Enterolactone; Dietary Fibre; Physical activity; Education; Smoking; Alcohol; Medicin; medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in most industrialised countries and in developing countries the trend in cardiovascular-related deaths is increasing. World-wide, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is an emerging cause of disability and premature death. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Metabolic Health and Cognitive Function : The Roles of Lifestyle and Shift Work

    Författare :Olga E. Titova; Christian Benedict; Robert Fredriksson; Veronica Witte; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :cognitive function; Mediterranean diet; omega-3 fatty acids; MRI; shift work history; sleep; metabolic syndrome; Epidemiologi; Epidemiology; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The risk of cognitive impairment and metabolic disturbances increases during aging. Healthy lifestyle habits, such as a regular intake of fatty fish and adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MeDi), have been shown to slow age-related cognitive decline and decrease the risk of metabolic disturbances. 4. 4. THE VASOPRESSIN SYSTEM IN DIABETES MELLITUS, OBESITY AND THE METABOLIC SYNDROME

    Författare :Sofia Enhörning; Kardiovaskulär forskning - hypertoni; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; arginine vasopressin; copeptin; prediction; epidemiology; diabetes mellitus; risk factors; abdominal obesity; obesity; metabolic syndrome; microalbuminuria; AVPR1A; AVPR1B;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Animal studies suggest that the arginine vasopressin (AVP) system plays a role in glucose and fat metabolism, but data from humans are limited. Method and results: We analysed plasma copeptin (copeptin), a stable C-terminal fragment of the AVP pro-hormone in the large, Swedish, population-based cohort Malmö Diet and Cancer Study Cardiovascular Cohort (MDC-CC, n=6103). 5. 5. Diet and sarcopenia risk in community-dwelling older European adults

    Författare :Diego Montiel Rojas; Fawzi Kadi; Elodie Ponsot; Andreas Nilsson; Rikard Landberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Muscle mass; Muscle strength; Physical function; Healthy diet; Mediterranean diet; Macronutrients; Healthy ageing; Physical activity; Metabolic syndrome;

    Sammanfattning : The age-related decline in muscle strength and muscle mass can lead to sarcopenia with higher risk of falls, disability, and loss of independence. In this context, healthy dietary habits have the potential to delay onset of physical limitations, thereby promoting healthy ageing. LÄS MER
