1. An architecture for diagnostic reasoning based on causal models
Sammanfattning : This thesis proposes an architecture for diagnostic reasoning employing causal models. The architecture embodies a knowledge representation at the problem-solving layer. That is, the way a problem is solved—in this case to arrive at a diagnosis—is an integral part of the knowledge representation. LÄS MER
2. Cost and benefits of cone beam computed tomography : for maxillary canines with eruption disturbance
3. Molecular and serological tools for clinical diagnostics of Lyme borreliosis - can the laboratory analysis be improved?
Sammanfattning : Lyme borreliosis (LB) is caused by spirochetes within the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex and is the most common tick-transmitted disease in the northern hemisphere. The transmission of the spirochetes to humans in Europe is done by the Ixodes ricinus ticks, which can also transmit the relapsing fever species Borrelia miyamotoi. LÄS MER
4. Statistical methods in medical image estimation and sparse signal recovery
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents work on methods for the estimation of computed tomography (CT) images from magnetic resonance (MR) images for a number of diagnostic and therapeutic workflows. The study also demonstrates sparse signal recovery method, which is an intermediate method for magnetic resonance image reconstruction. LÄS MER
5. Clinical and epidemiological aspects of childhood celiac disease
Sammanfattning : Background: Celiac disease (CD) is one of the most common chronic diseases in childhood in many countries. It is a small intestinal disease, caused by gluten in genetically predisposed individuals, but underlying immunological mechanisms are not exactly known. Gluten is found in wheat, rye and barley, and possibly in oats. LÄS MER
