  1. 1. Diagnostic Evaluation of Schizophrenia for Genetic Studies

    Författare :Birgit Ekholm; Rolf Adolfsson; Erik Jönsson; Göran Sedvall; Leif Lindström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Psychiatry; Schizophrenia; Diagnostic evaluation; Molecular genetic studies; Linkage; Association; Psykiatri; Psychiatry; Psykiatri; psykiatri; Psychiatry;

    Sammanfattning : Schizophrenia is one of the most severe mental disorders. Heredity is accepted as a major causative factor. To find molecular mechanisms behind schizophrenia, patient materials with reliable and valid diagnoses must be identified. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Early arterial disease of the lower extremities in diabetes : diagnostic evaluation and risk markers

    Författare :David Sahli; Maria Svensson; Eric Wahlberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diabetes mellitus; ankle blood pressure; toe blood pressure; screening; risk markers; mediasclerosis; macroangiopathy; fibrinolysis; inflammation; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Diabetology; Diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the present thesis was to assess the occurrence of early lower extremity arterial disease (LEAD) in patients with diabetes and to assess novel potential risk markers for development or worsening of LEAD in the same patients. In parallel different measures of impaired peripheral circulation were evaluated. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Radionuclide molecular imaging is an emerging multidisciplinary technique that is used in modern medicine to visualise diseases at cellular and molecular levels. This thesis is based on five papers (I-V) and focuses on the development of site-specific radiolabelled recombinant anti-HER2 Affibody molecules and preclinical evaluations in vitro and in vivo of the labelled conjugates. 4. 4. Diagnosis and evaluation of therapeutic response of bone metastases

    Författare :Ipek Çiray; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Bone metastases; breast neoplasm; MR imaging; CT; diagnosis; therapy evaluation; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to investigate different aspects of different imaging modalities in the diagnosis of bone metastases and in the assessment of their response to therapy. The role of CT, with and without clinical information, was investigated as compared to CT-guided bone biopsy in the evaluation of suspected bone metastases. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development of methods for evaluation and optimization of chest tomosynthesis

    Författare :Angelica Svalkvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Chest tomosynthesis; Evaluation; Optimization; Simulation; Image Quality; Dosimetry; Dose reduction; Nodule simulation; Validation;

    Sammanfattning : Tomosynthesis is a low-dose technique that has attracted increasing interest from the medical imaging community during the past decade. Tomosynthesis refers to the technique of acquiring a number of projection radiographs using extremely low exposure over a limited angular range, and using these radiographs to reconstruct slices of the imaged object.
