  3. 3. Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Optimization : Comparison and Evaluation of Non-invasive Methods

    Författare :Elena Sciaraffia; Carina Blomström Lundqvist; Giuseppe Boriani; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiac resynchronization therapy; device optimization; left ventricular contractility; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The general purpose of this thesis was to investigate new cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) optimization techniques and to assess their reliability when compared to invasive measurements of left ventricular contractility (LV dP/dtmax).We first assessed whether cardiac output (CO) measured by trans-thoracic impedance cardiography could correctly identify the optimal interventricular (VV) pacing interval while using invasive measurements of LV dP/dtmax as reference. 4. 4. Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy - Risk Stratification and Long-Term Outcome

    Författare :Christian Reitan; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy; heart Failure; Device therapy; long-term outcome;

    Sammanfattning : Heart failure is a condition that will affect 2-3% of the population. Around one third of the patients have a decreased LVEF and a widened QRS complex as a sign of ventricular dyssynchrony. CRT has emerged as a treatment that reduces morbidity, mortality and improve functional status in this population. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mobility Devices in Everyday Life among Very Old Europeans: Aspects of use and changes over time

    Författare :Charlotte Löfqvist; Hållbar vardag och hälsa i ett livsperspektiv; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; assistive technology; Assistive devices; occupational therapy; participation; very old people;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to expand the knowledge regarding the use and need of assistive devices, in particular mobility devices, and to investigate how, from a European perspective, the use of them changed during the ageing process. An additional aim was to explore the use of mobility devices in everyday life among very old Swedish women during a five-year period. LÄS MER
